A question about Home Computer Security/Hacking? Does anyone know if my husband and I sign up for You Tube giving out our home email address, that someone can hack into our home computer from a different address or means ??? My husband is very paranoid about You Tube and won't let me sign up because of it. Can someone shed some light on the subject. Many thanks. L.
I downloaded an update to Norton Security on my home computer? Now I can't log into any websites that require user name and password, like Yahoo. It's only on the one computer, I can get into my accounts on any other computer so it's not just forgetting a password. When I log on and hit enter, it just returns to the log on page. Anybody familiar with this? Know of any solutions? Thanks for your help.
Can i add biometric security to my home computer? I know that there are laptops available on the market that come with built in fingerprint technology. continually asks for password, does not take me to inbox on home computer? I enter my login and password correctly, but it brings me back to the login page, not to the inbox. I can access the inbox from work, but not from home. Security has not changed since last successful log in from home computer. I have had this problem for more than a week. Tried to clear cache and cookies, but problem continues. Tried different password, but got error message that the password was incorrect. This leads me to believe that it recognizes my attempt to log in, but there is some problem with accessing the inbox from home computer.? Would appreciate any help. Thanks!
How do I setup a new computer with an existing security-enabled home network? I couldn't seem to configure my new computer to get an Internet connection like all the other computers in my home network. I already have the WEP key but it doesn't seem to work. My new computer runs on Vista, and the other computers at home that have Internet connection run on XP. I've looked on a few other websites and couldn't seem to find the solution specific to my problem. Any ideas you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! First of all, I would like to say thanks to all those who shared their thoughts and worked within the info that I provided earlier. For those who need to get additional info, the router for the home network is a Westell Model 2200. The new computer has a Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter. There is a 26-character alphanumeric code that I enter when I try to manually connect to the Internet (is that the WEP key?), but sometimes, when I try to make a connection, the system doesn't even ask me to enter this code.

Do I have enough computer security on my PC? How about some free security programs? I have a laptop using Windows XP2 which I use regularly at random networks from a fraternity house, in college classes, to my home. Needless to say, I am not sure how secure the networks are: These programs run at system start up: Total Security: Paid Norton Security Center AntiVirus: Free AVG AntiVirus Firewall: Free Zonelabs Zone Alarm These programs run once a week: AntiSpyware: Windows Defender Beta, LavaSoft AdAware, and Spybot Search & Destroy I run Limewire for P2P now and then. I browse the internet with FireFox. I update regularly for windows, firefox and all of my security. I also game regularly online. My question is: does this sound safe? What else can I do? I dont want too many intrusive programs taking up tons of RAM, but I would like to be secure, as this new laptop is my only computer. Are there any free programs out there for college kids that are good for protection? Or do I have enough stuff running to protect me? Thanks all.

Computer security poll part 3? I am doing a poll on computer security for a class project. This is poll is for people who use computers extensively for their work. Thank you for your input! Do you always lock your workstation when you leave your desk? Do you have passwords written down on a piece of paper around your work area? Have you shared your passwords with anyone? Have you ever not set a password or used passwords like “password”, significant other’s name, a pet’s name, or other easily identifiable information? Do you surf the Internet for personal use on your work computer? Have you downloaded and installed software from the Internet onto your work computer? Do you use an instant messenger service while at work? Do you store your work place’s information on your personal home computer?
Can you build you own home security system? Installing the cameras, sensors, wires, etc and then connecting it all to a main computer and then set up the wireless alerting devices - notifying you and then the police department? Is this a difficult project but worthwhile since there is no need for a monthly fee that you pay with other security systems?
Home "stealth" security system with high def video? I'm planning on installing a "stealth" high definition video surveillance system with about 50GB of storage. Planning on having two monitors and 3 small cameras that would be hard to detect. How much would such a system cost? Not planning on having it connected to computer. Strictly a home system.

Why do Computer Geniuses feel the pleasure in creating and infecting other peoples home personal computers? I recently had a fraudulent software called "winfixer2006" infect and invade my personal pc not too long ago. It popped up on my screen with the microsoft Windows XP security window saying that my computer has a blackworm trojan virus and winfixer can remove it by purchasing and downloading it for $39.95. Obviously it looked authentic due to the Dell and Microsoft icons, and the computer was behaving badly, so I entered my bank card information and home address and downloaded it. By the next morning, I had told my wife about it, and she immediately checked consumer reports to see if this winfixer was the real thing or not. It turned out to be a scam! Stupid Me! Fortunately i was able to remove the malware with Ad-Aware SE.
How do I stop remote access to my home computer.? My Nortons Security gave me details when this happend and gave me the remote IP address,How do I block this using IP# as a guide. (this intruder is causing my systems/programs to slowly crash an burn.)
Why did you change the online security from Computer Associates to the horrible Norton ? Norton sucks !? I made the mistake of updating on my laptop and it ran terrible afterword, our office computer was also updated and hasn't worked right since. Fortunately our home desktop has not been updated to the stupid Norton and is still on the Computer Associated security and is working fine. A few years ago when we had Norton installed it also worked horribly. I think Norton needs to go back to their drawing board and revamp all their software!
