Video Surveillance System Knowledge Base

How to make my own video surveillance system? I would like to know how to make my own video surveillance system using materials that i already have if possible. I am being harrassed by the animals a.k.a. kids on my block. The law allows them to get away with this stuff but I would like to catch them in the act on my quest to getting the laws changed in Milwaukee.
Video surveillance system for my house? I think I need to get a video surveillance system for my house. What are the different types of video surveillance?
Can I put Video Surveillance system in all of my rooms? I am thinking on buying a Video Surveillance System in my house. but is it possible to put moniors in all of my 4 rooms for the same 6 cameras?
What freedoms would a government sponsered video surveillance system infringe upon? Funded by the federal government and set up at high-risk locations, looking to stop terrorists.
Best Storage Solution For Video Surveillance System? we have a surveillance system of 36 cameras that record on motion, the problem here that we want to have a copy of daily recorded videos, the size of a daily video is about 100 GB, what is the best solution to keep it, IE: tape drive, Big DVD,...?

Home "stealth" security system with high def video? I'm planning on installing a "stealth" high definition video surveillance system with about 50GB of storage. Planning on having two monitors and 3 small cameras that would be hard to detect. How much would such a system cost? Not planning on having it connected to computer. Strictly a home system.
How do I download from a DVR surveillance system? I have a DVR surveillance system that has recorded some video that I would like to download, how can I get that saved video information.
car alarm or surveillance system first My car was broken into a week ago and I lost about 900$ of merchandise, Somehow my cars alarm didnt seem to go off. It is possible I could sleep though it but even my neighbors and their dogs didnt hear anything and I live in an apartment complex with our cars parked right out front so its unlikely it went off. My car only has a factory alarm and its a 98. it goes off everytime i test it. I want to invest in a viper car alarm system, but I also want to invest in a new video surveillance system. They both cost the same but I can only afford one for now. What do you think is the smarter of the two to purchase first and most convienent to have? Just for the record, Horizon also tested my alarm and claims the only way the alarm didnt go off if I set it is if the door didnt close, and I have been getting forgetful so there is a slight chance I could have gone out to my car or something could have happened where I unlocked my doors and didnt relock them. The only two places I park my car are my place and my work. but honestly I work with my second cousin doing additions and remodeling and my car is parked at his house all day. It is pretty safe there though. Its kind of in the middle of nowhere outside of the city so I dont worry about it at work. Im more worried about at home when Im sleeping between 2-4 AM.
What is the best Digital Surveillance System for a small business? Well I own a veterinary clinic and we have been broken into 2 times. We already have locks and everything, but I want a digital Surveillance System that has 4 Cameras to it and that I can access the video from HOME... What are some price ranges? Links to websites? Whats the best for me?
How can i use a webcam as a surveillance system? I have a webcam and a spare computer. I want to have it setup like they have in shops. That means that it is continuiously recording.. maybe it would keep something like 2 days on the harddrive. To stop the video files from getting too massive, maybe it could only record like 3 frames every second, or something like that. Any ideas for software i can use? I found http://www.nchsoftware.com/surveillance/#102 but it seems to crash and not work for me..
Can someone recommend a camera surveillance system? It's for a store and we'll probably hook it up to a regular desktop. I'm looking for one that you would be able to view from home via DSL. In addition, a program that would save the video onto the desktop at the store, with the date and time. And would only activate when it detects motion.
I have been a victim of a hate crime. Should I film him with my new surveillance system and? turn him in to the cops, or show the video to his employer and family? He is in his late forties.
What are the legal ramifications of using a taser on someone who enters my garage illegally? I've had this happen on several occasions and it usually occurs on weekends (teenagers looking for beer or something in our garage refrigerator). What I'd like to do is lie in wait for some clown to enter my garage on a Friday night. As he exits my garage, I'd like to taser him & teach him a lesson. Is this legal? Could I rough him up a bit then throw him in the street? Would I go do jail? I want this nonsense to stop. And, yes, I close my garage door as often as I can, but sometimes I forget. Nonetheless, I shouldn't have to worry about someone - anyone - trespassing onto my property at any time. How do I know a person's not going to enter my house and do something to my wife/kids? I look at it as I'd be defending myself. I realize this may sound wierd, but other than installing a video surveillance system, it's all I can think to do. I have to physically catch someone "in the act" I believe - and that's nearly impossible unless I tape it.
im trying to set up a system for remote surveillance. Need software for brdcsting live feed over internet? I have CCTV cameras connected to my computer using a DVR card. I need some kind of video stream server (preferably free) to broadcast this feed over the internet. Thanks!
Can a police department be charged for negligence regarding 911? If and when the unnamed department is charged with profiling targeted at minorities either driving their vehicles or working at stores with contractual towing contracts with the police will the ramifications of them not having placed personnel to actually shadow the visitors at their local INN be brought to light? For example this INN was line of sight to a gas station where a year later I as an assistant manager saw for myself the extreme amount of time spent praying to their god, or actually hacked video surveillance systems that allowed nearly secret visits from other middle eastern foreigners. During my stay there I noticed that calls to police for assistance were treated as a joke due to their affinity for my prior boss and their shared towing arrangement. A necessitated defence caught their arrogance and flat out lies on audio (sent to proper authorities but probably covered up). Guards in Miami airport were held to standards for profiling why shouldn't an affluent city
over the internet surveillance? I need a video camera surveillance system for my warehouse in the city that I can watch and check from my home PC in town somehow over the internet. Is there a camera system that will let me do that? Thanks
Good quality video surveillance cameras for a cheap(er) price? Im trying to install a basic security system into our home thats good quality, but from between 50- 100$.... I know I sound cheap.... but ( im just a teenager ) I just want two cameras... and a way to connect them to either my computer or a DVR...... thnks....
If Hillary or a Clinton insider did not move Vince Fosters body then why this? This is a key point. The White House is the most secure private residence in the world, equipped with a sophisticated entry control system and video surveillance system installed by the Mitre Corporation. Yet no record exists that Vincent Foster left the White House under his own power on July 20th, 1993. No video of him exiting the building exists. No logbook entry shows he checked out of the White House. I bring this up because some Americans are talking about putting Hillary back into the White House.
Any ADT technician(s) familiar with remote video surveillance? .....and Remote Adminstration System software

Looking for computer recommendations for home video surveillance.? I'm looking for a way to get webcams or the like and use them for home security purposes. I figure that I could get a computer that has several usb ports or equivalent and it would be dedicated just for that purpose. I would use a broadband connection to stream images off-site (not all the time), have a UPS (10-15 minute duration). I'm thinking of 4-6 cameras being managed by 1 software package. I'd like the cameras mid-range - a ccd or low light camera probably isn't needed, unless that would be the preferred tool for the job. So basically, I'm looking for the computer, software, cameras and UPS. I don't need comments on home networking or bandwidth. Computer size isn't an issue, it will be tucked out of the way and not moved (racked, probably). Operating system isn't all that important (unix would be preferred but not necessary) The cameras can be either fixed or movable - I haven't really figured out how I want to lay them out yet. Suggestions?

Especially for Babyblue as she flies away on holiday? A flight Attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal." Another flight Attendant after a particularly bumpy flight: "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seatbelts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!" "As you exit the plane, please make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses." "We are please to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry... Unfortunately none of them are on this flight...!" "This aircraft is equipped with a video surveillance system that monitors the cabin during taxiing. Any passengers not remaining in their seats until the aircraft comes to a full and complete stop at the gate will be strip-searched as they leave the aircraft." "Folks, we have reached our cruising altitude now, so I am going to switch the seat belt sign off. Feel free to move about as you wish, but please stay inside the plane till we land... it's a bit cold outside" "Smoking in the lavatories is prohibited. Any person caught smoking in the lavatories will be asked to leave the plane immediately." "Your seat cushions can be used for floatation, and in the event of an emergency water landing, please take them with our compliments." "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane..." "Your seat cushions can be used for floatation, and in the event of an emergency water landing, please take them with our compliments." Any person caught smoking in the lavatories will be asked to leave the plane immediately." "Good morning. As we leave Dallas, it's warm, the sun is shining, and the birds are singing. We are going to Charlotte, where it's dark, windy and raining. Why in the world y'all wanna go there I really don't know." Pilot - "Folks, we have reached our cruising altitude now, so I am going to switch the seat belt sign off. Feel free to move about as you wish, but please stay inside the plane till we land... it's a bit cold outside, and if you walk on the wings it affects the flight pattern." If you can't get to it, then maybe try to do it at the weekend, but no big rush. Have a nice day." And, after landing: "Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." As we waited just off the runway for another airliner to cross in front of us, some of the passengers were beginning to retrieve luggage from the overhead bins. Any passengers not remaining in their seats until the aircraft comes to a full and complete stop at the gate will be strip-searched asthey leave the aircraft. As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Washington National, a lone voice comes over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella...WHOA..!" Can it be done? an electrician is on the bottom floor of a three story building. he has been contracted to find the correct switch to operate a light in the 3rd floor hall closet. there are 3 switches on the 1st floor at the entrance to the building. (one of these three switches operates the 3rd floor hall closet light.) all the light bulbs in the building are new, and the wiring has been previously checked and found to be good. The electrician claims the he can find the correct switch in less than 5 mins. and will only need to go upstairs ONE time. (he always works alone) can it be done? if so how? Also: the building is complete. all the walls and floors are in place and there's no way to see the third floor closet from the 1st or 2nd floors. the hall closet is in the middle of the 3rd floor with no windows. There is no video surveillance system in the building

Can Anyone Help Me With A Prospecting Plan?? I sell copiers, phone systems, and video surveillance. I spend 90% of my time prospecting and I need some sort of system. Do you know of a plan/system that is successful? Please be as specific as possible. THANKS!!
How many hours worth of surveillance will a Mpeg4 Digital Video Recorder with a 250GB hard drive hold? I am purchasing a CCTV system for work. Awaiting answers to my inquireies made directly to various company sales reps. In the mean time I would like to see what those of you experienced with CCTV can tell me. I have seen systems with hard drives smaller than the one I am looking at claim to hold 3 weeks worth of 24/7 video. I do not know what kind of resolution this would be at. Basically I am wondering if a 250GB hard drive will give me adequate resolution (for identifying faces from under 10 feet) and at the same time, a few weeks worth of storage before I have to write over the drive, or back up the video on cdrom. Come on Holsbrook..what ya got for me? :)
my boyfriend works for this company?? He installs alarm systems, video surveillance, etc. I just wanted to know what is this type of job called, like the correct term??
what else can I add to this? Today’s workforce in the United States of America is estimated to be 65 million people. An issue that has become very large in the eyes of many employee. All across the nation, employees and their companies are figuring ways to invade others privacy. The laws are not clear as to the definition of employee privacy, which opens the doors to abuse by employers and general public. Even though useful software exists, some employers still prefer the traditional methods of surveillance. Methods such as eavesdropping on phone calls, recording are still being used in all types of business. Workplace surveillance can benefit the employer in many cases it can even have a benefit for the employee. Theft in the workplace is a common reason for workplace surveillance, which can often mean losses to the company, and thusly losses to the employer in terms of benefits such as security as well. Most of these negative aspects involve privacy, de-motivation, and stress. “Internet surveillance” is the active surveillance of user’s Internet activities. When users operate a computer on the Internet activities, a record of sites that were visited and the operations that were performed by the user can be generated by Internet surveillance software. Also known as spyware, this software is able to track the user’s activities and report this to the employers with various techniques. “Desktop surveillance” on the other hand, works by the employer’s computer intercepting a signal that given off by the employee’s computer. That is done through specific surveillance software that could be remotely or physically installed on the employee’s machine. *When people use a computer that belongs to their employers, the employer has a right to monitor what their employer do with the computer. The employer doesn’t want to risk being held responsible if an employee uses that come to mind are drug dealing, child porn, predator, stalker, So just to name a few. Video surveillance cameras for the company, they can monitor and make sure nobody is wasting the company time this can also enable a company to see where they can lose people, thus reducing their expenses, and improving the bottom line. A business can benefits from video surveillance in many ways. [1]CCTV acts as a deterrent from theft by both staff and external people. [2]CCTV provides evidence of crime regardless if committed by staff or people visiting, this can defend staff also. [3]Managers can measure operational efficiency and even perform market analysis.[4]CCTV can discover health &safety issues. It is clear that video surveillance not only benefits the company, but can also help staff by protecting company profits which eventually pay the staff. In some circles this is called LOSS PREVENTION. Most disadvantages of video surveillance in the work place relate to the issue of those who are worried about being under surveillance. This means staff & even management who may feel their civil liberties are under threat or do not want to be discovered doing something they shouldn’t. The uncomfortable feeling that someone is watching making you feel that you must be doing something is bad enough for some people. Even those at the top of the company are at risk of being recorded doing something they shouldn’t. The benefits seem to outweigh the disadvantages. In any cases, the company would only spend money on a surveillance system to the advantage of the company in order to save money, protected the business and everybody’s pay checks. Just my opinion, but I think any company that would treat its employees like criminals rather than valued assets gets what it deserves: higher costs, lower loyalty. The morale is likely to be lower since employees may now be worried about communication with other employees. They may worry that communication may look like chatting and will thus minimize useful communication. Adding to the problems, companies may hire somebody who appeared to be wasting time and was actually working. This could mean future lawsuits. Also, the company has to go through the expense of more equipment with no immediate payback, and hiring of more individuals or a company to monitor these screens. Lower morale of the monitoring has the potential to backfire by reducing productivity and increased turnover and retraining issue that this causes. Id badges are used to track you via rfia chips they records your whereabouts in the building, whether you are late to work or if you leave early, they are securely used to gather data about how long your breaks are and how much times you spend in the café or smoke areas, problem people will get weeded out or fired based on this data however do to legal reasons they will never tell you this data is being used against you. You have a right to privacy and that right is not there. But it safer for the companies. Mostly companies use badges that are called “Active Tag” they are benefits to the companies in several ways. Some benefits include grater visibility within facility, increased security, added convenience with hand-free identification, and easily installed on existing network infester. Active tags are use at several places. Here are some places they use at: corporate facilities, government facilities, prisons, warehouse and disruption yards, airports, and hospitals. This ID badge can track or reads at a distance over 35 feet. The Axcess active tag communications system comprised of activators, antennas, receivers and a battery powered radio transponders or tags.*

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said slightly more than half of the influenza virus strains reported to its surveillance system are not good matches against the strains included in this flu season’s vaccine. The number of states reporting widespread flu activity jumped to 31 this week compared with 11 a week ago, the CDC said. But Dr. Joe Bresee of the CDC’s influenza division said there are no indications this flu season is worse than usual. Story continues below ↓ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- advertisement -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Seasonal flu activity was slow to start this year but has increased sharply in recent weeks,” Bresee told reporters. One measure officials use to gauge the severity of the season is the number of flu-related child deaths. Bresee said the CDC has heard of six U.S. children who have died from the flu, a relatively low number compared with recent years. Flu viruses mutate and change all the time, so every year a different vaccine is created as officials predict which particular strains will circulate. The vaccine is designed to protect against three influenza strains — two from Type A, an H1N1 and an H3N2 version, and one for Type B. Bresee said about 30 percent of the overall strains of influenza in the United States may be a Type A strain that emerged in Australia called H3N2 A/Brisbane. It emerged too late to be included in the flu vaccine offered in the United States beginning in September and October. The Type B strain chosen for this year’s vaccine also was not a good match for most of the B virus strains seen in the United States this flu season, Bresee said. “While a less-than-ideal virus match between the viruses in the vaccine and those circulating viruses can reduce vaccine effectiveness, we know from past influenza studies that the vaccine can still protect enough to make illness milder or prevent flu-related complications,” Bresee said. Flu vaccines take months to make. Bresee also said some resistance is being reported to the antiviral drug Tamiflu, made by Switzerland’s Roche Holding AG and Gilead Sciences Inc of the United States. Of the viruses tested in CDC flu labs, 4.5 percent are resistant to the drug, Bresee said. Influenza kills an estimated 36,000 Americans in an average year, and puts 200,000 into the hospital, the CDC said. Copyright 2008 Reuters. Click for restrictions. Does anyone know how to set the "sp" on a Sony VCR in order to record videos longer? I’m setting up a home surveillance system, and i was wondering how i can set the "SP" system to work on my vcr.
has anyone used a webcam for school traffic speed surveillance successfully? It seems to me it would be simple for parents at a school (or concerned citizens in a village) to have a community project to monitor and report traffic driving dangerously They would need 1. a weatherproof box with a webcam in, connected to a computer. 2. Have Skype and a broadband connection on the webcam 3. Set the Skype up to with the auto answer option, as per here, http://www.amperordirect.com/pc/r-skype-voip/z-reference-skype-security.html and a special Skype ID like "parentsagainstlethaldrivers" or "Villagesafetyvolunteers" 4. Make two makers on the road exactly 100 meters apart 5. install video recording software like this http://www.pamela-systems.com/index.php 6. Have volunteer parents dial the computer at dangerous times (like the rush hour) and record the video 7. If a car goes from the 100 meter markers in fewer than the legal number of seconds, upload a screen shot to a Flikr site created specially for the purpose, after calculating the speed in answer to questions about "why ?" and "what has this to do with health?" road safety is one of the biggest health issues. far more people are killed on the roads in the USA and UK than in all the wars being fought by soldiers. Unlike soliders road victims (often non drivers) don't volunteer. Don't we have enough cameras. No way in my view. We have the right to expect the government to keep public spaces safe, but I am not ready to pay enough taxes to have police on every street. CCTV is a productivity tool, like a radio, car etc and enables the good guys to catch more bad guys. Cameras reduce crime and help catch criminals.
Creative ways to catch a burglar? A few months ago, my house (really just my garage) was burglarized. The thief cracked my top security system: He walked up to my car (which was parked on the street), opened the door (which was unlocked), and used my own garage door opener to open my garage door. Now I've learned that these criminal masterminds have struck again. My neighbor told me they stole some CDs and stuff out of his car. I have 3 cars and a 2 car garage so one must be parked on the street. I cover it with a car cover and I have noticed several nights over the past few weeks that the cover has been disturbed. Okay, so I'm not going to purchase any video surveillance equipment or anything like that. But is there any way to catch this guy? Or just make him pay a little? I thought I'd add that my neighbor is ridiculously safe. Hence, my car door was unlocked. Ialready have two dogs (useless) and my neighbors would laugh if I suggested neighborhood watch. and the "top notch security system" description was sarcastic. If they really wanted to get some good stuff, they should have opened by back gate (which has no lock) and walked into my house from by back door (which is usuallly wide open).
Seriuosly: Does Racism Still Exist? The Hand that Controls the Thermostat...: The Subtleties of Subtle Racism... Min. Paul Scott <operati-@yahoo.com> Is anybody else hot in here? These six words send chills through every black person within a ten cubical radius. At that very moment I know that my comfortable office tropical paradise is about to become an Arctic winter wonderland. My first inclination is to hop up from behind my desk in a fit of righteous indignation and go into a tirade about how " 400 years ago my ancestors were forced to come here from a warm climate and my melanin enriched body just can't function under 55 degrees..." But instead, I quietly grab my emergency starter jacket and sit back down trying to convince myself that my compliance was some sort of act of chivalry and that I really just didn't get "punked" in a battle to establish racial dominance... For previous generations, the line of demarcation between what was and was not racism was clearly defined, white folks eat in the front, black folks eat 'round back. . Could it be that it was all so simple, then? Today the obvious signs of racism are gone and replaced by something so "subtlety systematic". that many would deny that racism still exists. Many Americans will look at the recent endorsement of the extension of the voting rights act by George Bush as conclusive evidence that the last vestiges of that evil institution have now been purged from the face of the earth. Not once asking themselves, if racism was a thing of the past why would an "extension of the voting rights act" be necessary in the first place? While some Conservatives would vehemently deny and debate the fact that racism still has an impact on the lives of Akan people, the trading of the familiar term "racism" with the less politically correct but more accurate terms of "global white supremacy" and "white male privilege" is usually met with a long pause and a quick change of subject. What is really at issue here is the power to define what "racism" is or isn't. Most white people can only perceive an Archie Bunkerish type of blatant racism instead of a global system in which not only David Duke but Bill and Hillary reap the benefits. Contrary to popular belief the most bitter racist may never utter the dreaded N word but may use the more acceptable terms like "illegitimate minority children " and "underprivileged urban youth." The great conversation on race in which this country periodically attempts to engage is only called for when camera phone video footage of a black man being brutally beaten by white police officers happens to make it to the evening news and gets black folks riled up. As long as there are no rumors of clandestine meetings of black militants planning some major uprising everything is cool. Racism is out of sight, out of mind. White people do not know how it feels to have to make lightening quick, split moment decisions as to whether an act of disrespect was "racist" or not. Was the young lady who followed me around the record store asking me over and over again did I need help finding the latest Hip Hop CD conducting surveillance on all black shoppers or was she just being overly, annoyingly helpful. Maybe she read in the paper about the illiteracy rate of Black men and thought the concept of alphabetized CD placement was a foreign concept to me. Maybe the 18 year old white high school dropout that just started last week really did deserve the managerial position more than the Sista with two Master's degrees who has been with the company 15 years. Who knows? This country must come to the realization that patting oneself on the back for how far this country has come in terms of race relations does not mean that in 2006, we are judged by the content of character and not the color of skin. We must admit that racism is an all encompassing economic, social and political reality that manifests itself in every action either consciously or unconsciously from who controls the economic condition of a community to who controls the temperature in the office. The elimination of racism means 100% equality; nothing more nothing less. After all of the rhetoric, that is what black people must fight for with the last breath in our bodies. Now, is anyone else cold in here? Min. 5 Years Later - SOME Justice and One Fugitive Still on the Run. Wonderful judical system? 6 bikers take plea deals in Nev. brawl LAS VEGAS - Six current and former Mongols motorcycle club members accused in a deadly brawl with rival Hells Angels during a biker rally pleaded guilty to reduced charges Monday. The agreements capped more than five years of state and federal prosecutions from the 2002 casino shooting that was captured on dramatic surveillance video footage. It means that none of the 48 defendants identified, apprehended and hauled into court from either motorcycle club will serve more than five years in prison in the melee, which left two Hells Angels and one Mongols member dead and at least a dozen people hurt at the Harrah's Laughlin hotel-casino in Laughlin, 90 miles south of Las Vegas. "This resolves the incident out of Laughlin," said Joseph Abood, lawyer for Pedro Martinez Jr., a Mongols defendant who could be released within months after being credited for time served. Martinez has been in custody since his arrest shortly after the brawl Martinez, Alexander Alcantar and four other men from Southern California had faced trial Nov. 26 on 12 charges including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, battery and assault with a deadly weapon. Each faced a possible sentence of life in prison on the murder charge. Under the pleas entered before Clark County District Judge Michelle Leavitt, most of those now free on bond can seek probation at sentencing in January. Alcantar, 34, of Los Angeles, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of manslaughter in the slayings of two Hells Angels members. He was promised a sentence of no more than 18 to 45 months in state prison. Prosecutor William Kephart said outside court that it would have been difficult to convince a jury that Alcantar, who was stabbed and shot during the fighting, was not acting in self-defense. Monday's pleas came after a plea deal in October 2006 ended a federal racketeering trial and resolved state charges against six Hells Angels members. Most received sentences of about 30 months in prison. Federal prosecutors dropped charges against 36 other Hells Angels. Hells Angels member Frederick Donahue remains a fugitive on murder and attempted murder charges, and Kephart said he will be prosecuted if he is apprehended.
Would Canada, Sweden or France want US style Health care back again? "NEW YORK (CNN) -- To people around the world who have seen the video, Esmin Green is a symbol of a health-care system that seems to have failed horribly...." " Green, 49, is shown rolling off a waiting room chair at King County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, on June 19. She lands face-down on the floor, convulsing. Surveillance video captures her lying on the floor for more than an hour as several hospital workers see her and appear to ignore her. She died there." " At 6:35 a.m., the tape shows a hospital employee approaching and nudging Green with her foot, the group said. Help was summoned three minutes later. In addition, the organization said, hospital staff falsified Green's records to cover up the time she had lain there without assistance." "...Patients are often forced to sleep in plastic chairs or on on floors covered in urine, feces and blood while waiting for beds..." http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/03/hospital.woman.death/index.html
How do I explain an Involuntary Termination without having to explain what happened? I am having a hard time explaining an Involuntary Termnination that I know was done out of revenge. About two week ago he and I had a great half hour talk about animation or know as cartoons. I thought we were having some kind of association but I am wrong. This took place around 13:07 PDST so please review the surveillance tape. You will also see the pranks others have played on me. Review all from two weeks back. Gabriel and I pushed each other. Ambrosio Galvan and Bill Lang know his work habits. Thank you for opening this investigation. I am aware of what constitutes a Hostile Work Place Environment. You, Fidel Jacobo, have been told of TBC Associates works habits. You have not addressed this in any document meeting. Show the surveillance video as proof. The video would exonerate me of their false charges. I believe that I was terminated since California is a At-Will Employment state William Gregory Lang or Bill Lang transferred to a Sam's Club near Palmer Lake in Colorado in early June 2007. Mr. Lang used to be trusted by me who made the mistake of telling him everything before the Termination on Monday, 23 April 2007. Bill Lang knows the dirt of Sam's Club 6625 and had told some people in the Club that almost everyone hates Fidel Jacobo and that is why a lot of people quit Sam's Club 6625. Team Lead Ambrosio Galvan also knows a lot of dirty secrets at Sam's Club 6625, but is nervous about losing his job if he sides with me Sam's Club PD-57 Investigation/Suspension was NOT adhering to by Club Manager Fidel Jacobo and Membership Manager Esperanza Lopez. Read the complete policy, PD-57, at the end. No documentation of any complaints and the San Fernando Police Department or the Los Angeles Police Department ever showed for a "Work Place Violence." Please show proof since one complaint and one video tape does NOT establish Workplace Violence. SHOW THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO!!! Neither Mr. Jacobo nor Ms Lopez wanted to sign the papers of any meeting between two managers and me for Legal Documentation. No meetings to address any potential problems at the Tire and Battery Center were brought up by the Team Lead or Management. As of Monday, 9 April 2007, the people of the Tire Shop are playing pranks and making it appear as if I was becoming forgetful such as the misplacement of tools and personal safety gear. The suspects are Erick Miron and Mark Castro. Esperanza Lopez was told and never had a meeting to discuss the topics brought to her attention by me. Esperanza Lopez was asked to verify this by reviewing the Surveillance video tapes and my request was not honored. Esperanza Lopez was told about the pranks about two weeks ago but no meeting to diffuse or address serious matters was conducted. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc does not always follow their guidelines and fire anyone that does not allow their selves to be intimidated!!! In the early 1990s Esperanza Lopez used to be a cashier at Tres Sierras Store #1 in Pacoima CA 91331 but when she became a manager she was as a friendly to old friends of the Delgado Family. Esperanza's nickname was "Pera." Esperanza Lopez is a decent manager BUT only honors the request (s) of those that will help her career or that she likes. If the complaint involves one of these managers, a higher level of salaried management should conduct the investigation. If the Facility Manager is out of the facility (i.e., Vacation, leave of absence) another member of management must contact the District Manager/Director of Operations or Regional Personnel Manager to ensure the investigation begins immediately. The Investigation Report & Guide and the following investigation forms can be printed from the link found at the end of this policy under Resources, Printed Materials, and THE RED BOOK Forms: Investigation Supplements Investigation Report and Guide Interview Checklist Witness Manager Notes Associate Statement Follow Up Interview Checklist Changes/Additions to Associate Statement All original documents obtained relating to Harassment or Discrimination allegations will be maintained in THE RED BOOK, at the facility in a locked file cabinet in the Investigating manager's office. They are not to be placed in a personnel file. If the investigation is regarding a salaried member of management's conduct, THE RED BOOK should be maintained at the District Manager/Director of Operations (Regional Personnel Manager for Logistics) office in a locked file cabinet. For confidentiality reasons, Associates are not entitled to copies of statements other than their own that are collected/obtained during as investigation. THE RED BOOK may be used for other type of investigations if desired (optional). Conducting Interviews A salaried member of management must interview all identified individuals to determine what occurred, when, where, and who was involved and obtain written statements from all individuals interviewed. Conduct all interviews privately, and ensure that is a salaried member of management participating as a witnessing manager. Explain to the Associate that the witnessing manager will be taking notes. At least one member of management should be the same gender (if practical) as the Associate is on the clock. Verify the Associate is on the clock. Tell the Associate you are here to learn what the Associate might know regarding certain matters that have come to your attention. Explain that the meeting will be considered an Open Door discussion and that the Associate is protected from retaliation from any person for sharing information during the investigation. Explain that the meeting is confidential, and that any information the Associate provides will be shared only with those who have a need to know or to further the investigation. Ask whether the Associate is comfortable meeting with you and the other manager(s) present. If uncomfortable, offer the Associate the opportunity to discuss without the particular manager. Tell the Associate that to be consistent you will be taking notes as you go through the interview. If an Associate request to have a co-worker present, and refuses to meet with management alone, you need to let them know that our Associates have the benefit of utilizing the Open Door Policy which allows them the opportunity to talk directly to a member of management regarding any situation, while maintaining confidentiality. As a result, it is not necessary for Associates to have a co-worker present, therefore, co-workers will not be allowed to attend. If the Associate to refuse to meet, you may request the Associate to submit a written statement regarding the situation. Inform the associate that the investigation will continue with or without their comments. Continue with the investigation and necessary action. Collect and review all statements, appropropriate paperwork, documentation, and system reports that are relevant to the investigation. Consider interviews, written statements, documents or other materials carefully to determine whether a violation of policy occurred and take appropriate action. All documentation concerning the investigation should be kept in a separate file locked file cabinet in the manager's office (People Manager for Field Logistics). They are not to be placed in the personnel files. Suspensions During the course of an investigation, the Investigating Manager may determine it would be in the best interest of the Associate of the Company for the Associate to be suspended from work, pending the outcome of the investigation. Suspension from the Company will be unpaid, pending the outcome of the investigation. Hourly Associates will not be eligible to use benefit hours (illness protection, or personal time) to compensate for lost wages. Salaried will be paid only through the end of the week in which they will be suspended. If an Associate is suspended due to an arrest, refer to Arrested Associate's Policy, PD-01 for additional information. Appropriate Action Once the investigation is completed, if there has been no violation of company policy, no disciplinary action will be taken. If there has been a violation of company policy, the Associate under investigation may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. The investigation materials must still be maintained regardless of the outcome of the investigation. If the investigation is the result of an Open Door, it is the salaried member of management's responsibility to follow up with the reporting Associate. The salaried member of management should ensure the Associate understands how and why the resolution was determined. If the Associate still has unresolved concerns, the Associate should be directed to the next level supervision. Hi. My question is regarding types of coax that can be used to carry digital audio signals.? Basically I am building a new house and am setting up 2 audio systems for 2 locations within the house. I want to try and make use of digital audio outs from my computer and some other sources so I am runnig cables to suit. The distances aren't great probably 10 to 20 metres. It doesn't seem possible and certainly not economical to buy ready made digital audio coax cables to suit. I actually work in the surveillance industry and use alot of RG59bu coax cable for video signals. It is more flexible than the standard RG6 used for TV transmission. Can I just use this cable and fit gold plated RCA connectors at each end? It is 75 ohm, which seems to be listed on all the specs for ready made cables. Or is there a specific type I must use? Also are those distances an issue? I would appreciate some advice. Thanks
Physics robot arm question? Hi, me and my friend have been working on this problem, but we still don't know where to begin: A robot arm that controls the position of a video camera in an automated surveillance system is manipulated by a servo motor that exerts a force on a push-rod. The force is given by F(x) = x^2, Where x is the position of the end of the push-rod. If the push-rod moves from x1 = 0m to x2 = 11m, how much work did the servo motor do? Answer in units of J.

Did Ronald Dumsfield watch the Matrix? Does this scare anybody else???? http://www.wired.com/news/technology/medtech/0,71364-0.html?tw=rss.partnerfeed "A new brain-computer-interface technology could turn our brains into automatic image-identifying machines that operate faster than human consciousness.... Darpa, or the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is funding research into the system with hopes of making federal agents' jobs easier. The technology would allow hours of footage to be very quickly processed, so security officers could identify terrorists or other criminals caught on surveillance video much more efficiently." Coragryph, it's fallacious to assume that this is all that I am worried about with what is going on, so cut the crap. For over a year now, the technology has existed to graft computer chips to neuronal tissue - originally published Scientific American (you look it up) but here's a nerd link if you like.... http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/06/03/0710219&from=rss I'm not particularly worried about Govt implanting me, but I have see the crap they use for "datamining" not to mention the inefficiency of "computer-based language interpretors". If you've a head for stats figure out how many guppies get caught for every shark... While they scare the hell out of us with WMDs, they creep deeper and deeper in fascism. While I respect your education and expertise, I feel that you are naive in your assessment of what level of competency of technology US is willing to put into practice or the ignorance and deceit they will use to do so... if you doubt that google "Adak Aleuts and Anchika Workers" or "Navajo Nations Battle the NRC" or use links such as http://carbon.cudenver.edu/public/fwc/Issue10/Americas/IEN-2.html and in the quest for viscous crude in Alaska the totally ineffective/destructive use of low-frequency sound waves http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/print/3212. IMO, when you combine the technology cited with newer advances by corps such as Raytheon is developing ACTIVE DENIAL SYSTEM: http://www.eyepod.org/Weapons-ADS.html (It is in existence and has been used recently in Iraq) http://futurefeeder.com/index.php/archives/2005/01/25/new-ai-with-cognitive-vision/ and http://futurefeeder.com/index.php/archives/2005/11/03/implantable-miniature-telescope/ I see concern, here & there.
I have the rules of engagment in Iraq , care to take a look ? Article by Colin Kahl in the December 2006 issue of Foreign Affairs. From the outset of the war: The U.S. military has put in place several mechanisms to ensure compliance with the principles of distinction and proportionality. In the lead-up to the invasion, the Pentagon developed the “joint target list,” an inventory of all potential targets for coalition forces, which was vetted by judge advocates and other legal advisers. •Certain operations directed against Saddam Hussein’s regime were deemed off-limits because they targeted civilians or risked producing disproportionate damage to civilians and civilian infrastructure. •Starting in late 2002, the Pentagon also enlisted UN agencies and nongovernmental organizations to help draw up a “no-strike” list including thousands of schools, mosques, sensitive cultural sites, hospitals, water-treatment facilities, power plants, and other elements of civilian infrastructure. The list placed significant constraints on air and land operations. During the initial ground invasion, for example, the artillery batteries used by U.S. forces were programmed with a list of sites that could not be fired on without a manual override. The no-strike list isn’t the only measure taken to limit collateral damage: The U.S. military has also tried to limit risks to civilians by reviewing its military targets with the collateral damage estimation methodology (CDEM), which uses computer software and human analysis to estimate possible civilian casualties for every target studied. •The CDEM requires commanders and their legal advisers to ask themselves five questions to determine whether a given target is a legitimate one. oCan they positively identify the person or the site according to the current ROE? oIs there a protected civilian facility or significant environmental concern within the range of the weapon to be used? oCan damage to that concern be avoided by attacking the target with a different weapon or a different method? oIf not, how many people are likely to be injured or killed in the attack? oMust a higher commander be called for permission? When the targets considered represent a risk of “high collateral damage,” the CDEM requires political approval by the secretary of defense and, during major combat, the president. The rules of engagement have also sought to achieve a balance each troop’s legitimate right to self-defense with the importance of complying with the laws of war: They attempt to maintain this balance by providing troops with a clear sense of what constitutes a legitimate military target. During major combat in Iraq, the criterion was status-based. Individuals or groups, namely Iraqi military and paramilitary forces, that were “declared hostile forces” under the ROE, could be attacked on sight until they were wounded or they surrendered. As the war transitioned into a counterinsurgency mission and U.S. forces confronted adversaries who were largely indistinguishable from the civilian population, the criterion became conduct-based: •U.S. troops must now positively identify a “hostile act” (such as the firing of an automatic weapon in their direction) or a “hostile intent” (such as the brandishing of a rocket-propelled grenade or the planting of an improvised explosive device) before they may fire their weapons. If the naked eye isn’t sufficient to positively identify a hostile force, act, or intent before attacking: U.S. forces rely on advanced optics. Forward observers are used to identify and “paint” targets, or provide coordinates for laser- or GPS-guided bomb attacks. Air force, navy, and marine fighter aircraft have also been retrofitted with new reconnaissance pods that allow real-time overhead surveillance and streaming video, thereby helping ground forces distinguish insurgents from civilians during raids and combat missions. Another precaution pertains to the choice of weapons: U.S. forces have been reluctant to use artillery against insurgents, even when they have been under mortar and rocket fire. Artillery systems (such as howitzers, mortars, and ground-launched rockets) have a large radius of destruction and so have a high potential for collateral damage, especially in densely populated areas. Instead, U.S. forces have either relied on close air support and ground forces that can keep their “eyes on the target” or refrained from attacking altogether. This summer, for example, as I was conducting interviews in the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, the Green Zone was hit by two rockets and two mortars. Although the attack’s point of origin—a residential neighborhood near Sadr City—was determined quickly, the U.S. military chose not to fire back with artillery. Our rules of engagement have also emphasized the importance of using proportionate force when engaging legitimate military targets in order to minimize collateral damage: The current rules explicitly require U.S. troops to respond to a hostile act or intent with “graduated” force. Under many circumstances, U.S. forces may engage in deadly violence only after warning their targets and trying nonlethal measures against them to no avail. The U.S. military also frequently engages in “weaponeering”—selecting the most specifically tailored type and quantity of weapon necessary to produce a desired effect. When air strikes are required, it increasingly relies on precision-guided munitions, such as laser-, GPS-, and optically guided weapons. During the major combat phase of the war in Iraq, 68 percent of the munitions used were precision-guided, compared with 7-8 percent during the 1991 Gulf War, 30 percent in Kosovo, and 60 percent in Afghanistan. The U.S. military has also developed munitions with smaller payloads to ensure that it uses the smallest force necessary, and it relies heavily on penetrating munitions with delayed fuses to confine the damage caused by blasts and fragmentation to the area of impact. Additional mitigation techniques, including adjusting the timing, angles, and azimuths of attacks, have also been regularly employed to reduce risks to civilians. The number of U.S. air strikes has declined sharply since the end of major combat operations, indicating the U.S. military’s heightened concern for proportionality: Official figures suggest that U.S. planes launched 18,695 strikes during the first 30 days of the war, compared with just 285 strikes in 2004 and 306 in 2005. Other estimates put the 2005 total at 654. Even with the higher number, however, there were almost as many air strikes per day during the major combat phase (an average of 623) as there were during all of 2005. Question - So do you believe we can win in Iraq now , with this kind of nonesense ?
Was the destruction of the Death Star an insider job? Maybe the conspiracy nuts can explain this.... We’ve all heard the “official conspiracy theory” of the Death Star attack. We all know about Luke Skywalker and his ragtag bunch of rebels, how they mounted a foolhardy attack on the most powerful, well-defended battle station ever built. And we’ve all seen the video over, and over, and over, of the one-in-a-million shot that resulted in a massive chain reaction that not just damaged, but completely obliterated that massive technological wonder. Like many, I was fed this story when I was growing up. But as I watched the video, I began to realize that all was not as it seemed. And the more I questioned the official story, the deeper into the rabbit hole I went. Presented here are some of the results of my soul-searching regarding this painful event. Like many citizens, I have many questions that I would like answered: was the mighty Imperial government really too incompetent to prevent a handful of untrained nerf-herders from destroying one of their most prized assets? Or are they hiding something from us? Who was really behind the attack? Why did they want the Death Star destroyed? No matter what the answers, we have a problem. Below is a summary of my book, Uncomfortable Questions: An Analysis of the Death Star Attack, which presents compelling evidence that we all may be the victims of a fraud of immense proportions. Uncomfortable Questions about the Death Star Attack 1) Why were a handful of rebel fighters able to penetrate the defenses of a battle station that had the capability of destroying an entire planet and the defenses to ward off several fleets of battle ships? The above photos show Death Star defenses. Did they stand down? 2) Why did Grand Moff Tarkin refuse to deploy the station’s large fleet of TIE Fighters until it was too late? Was he acting on orders from somebody to not shoot down the rebel attack force? If so, who, and why? 3) Why was the rebel pilot who supposedly destroyed the Death Star reported to be on the Death Star days, maybe hours, prior to its destruction? Why was he allowed to escape, and why were several individuals dressed in Stormtrooper uniforms seen helping him? 4) Why has there not been an investigation into allegations that Darth Vader, the second-ranking member of the Imperial Government, is in fact the father of the pilot who allegedly destroyed the Death Star? Why didn't he arrest this rebel when he had the chance? 5) Why did Lord Vader decide to break all protocols and personally pilot a lightly armored TIE Fighter? Conveniently, this placed Lord Vader outside of the Death Star when it was destroyed, where he was also conveniently able to escape from a large-sized rebel fleet that had just routed the Imperial forces. Why would Lord Vader, one of the highest ranking members of the Imperial Government, suddenly decide to fly away from the Death Star in the middle of a battle? Did he know something that the rest of the Imperial Navy didn’t? In the video of the Death Star’s destruction, Lord Vader clearly exclaims “I have you now” then fires two shots. Those shots never impact — anywhere. Were they merely “added” to the “official” video after the event to make it appear that Lord Vader had at least attempted to fight off his alleged son? Onboard Camera shows the lone rebel in Vader's sights but doesn't pull the trigger. 6) Nerf-Herders defy the laws of physics? How could any pilot shoot a missile into a 2 meter-wide exhaust port, let alone a pilot with no formal training, whose only claim to fame was his ability to “bullseye womprats” on Tatooine? This shot, according to one pilot, would be “impossible, even for a computer.” Yet, according to additional evidence, the pilot who allegedly fired the missile turned off his targeting computer when he was supposedly firing the shot that destroyed the Death Star. How did the missile make a right angle turn after entering the exhaust port? How could a missile shot in the vacuum of space–that would tend to keep going in the same direction as it was released, according to the laws of physics–be *sucked* into an *exhaust* pipe? "Exhaust" means to exhale or blow out... Wouldn’t the missiles have been blown awry of their target rather than sucked in? If it had been an intake pipe, then the “bending” path of the missiles could be plausible. Why have these discrepancies never been investigated, let alone explained? Actual tactical computer recording. The Magic Missile Theory 7) Why has their been no investigation into evidence that the droids who provided the rebels with the Death Star plans were once owned by none other than Lord Vader himself, and were found, conveniently, by the pilot who destroyed the Death Star, and who is also believed to be Lord Vader’s son? Evidence also shows that the droids were brought to one Ben Kenobi, who, records indicate, was Darth Vader’s teacher many years earlier! Are all these personal connections between the conspirators and a key figure in the Imperial government supposed to be coincidences? 8) How could a single missile destroy a battle station the size of a moon? No records, anywhere, show that any battle station or capital ship has ever been destroyed by a single missile. Furthermore, analysis of the tape of the last moments of the Death Star show numerous small explosions along its surface, prior to it exploding completely! Why does all evidence indicate that strategically placed explosives, not a single missile, is what destroyed the Death Star? How could this small missile create an explosion this big? 9) Prior to the destruction of the Death Star a smuggler named Captain Solo was reportedly given a large sum of money. At a crucial point in the battle, Captain Solo had an unobstructed shot on his choice of the fighters pursuing Skywalker, yet Solo did not take advantage of this opportunity to kill Darth Vader. Although Vader was in the process of firing upon Skywalker’s X-wing, Solo attacked the defensive fighter instead. In the aftermath, Vader escaped, while Solo still had crates of money in his cargo hold. Captain Solo eventually made his way to the Bespin system, where he was seen dining with none other than Vader, who was reportedly obsessed with obtaining Captain Solo’s ship (and the money contained therein). Solo’s ship was then seen flying into the super-structure of the second Death Star, destroying it just after Vader was able to get out (he was seen leaving a shuttle piloted by none other than Luke Skywalker). Yet through this whole sequence of events, the money was never seen removed from Solo’s ship. Was it used to bribe Darth Vader, who (allegedly) assassinated Palpatine? Did anyone other than Vader and Skywalker actually see Emperor Palpatine die? 10 ) During pilot debriefing we leaned that Obi Wan was the one who told Luke to turn off his targeting computer. He said he was told by Obi Wan to "Let go" and "Trust me". This is the same Obi Wan who was, according to the official story, killed after sabotaging the Death Star by none other than Darth Vader BEFORE speaking to Luke. His convenient death places him inside the Death Star just before the explosions on the surface occur. By faking his death Vader would have given Obi Wan time to plant explosives. The only evidence of his death is his Jedi robe on surveillance cameras. And even that can't be found because they decided to conveniently let the evidence burn in the planet atmosphere. Also, why are there reports from Endor that Lord Vader, Obi Wan and Yoda were seen together AFTER their deaths? And who other than the Empire has the capacity to fake their deaths? 11) Lord Vader executed an officer for incompetence by allowing the rebels to escape. He then orders another officer to disable the Millennium Falcon's hyper drive. The rebels once again escape using the disabled hyper drive. Why was the officer responsible for caring out Lord Vader's order to disable the hyper drive not executed? Why was he in fact given NO disciplinary action what so ever? Why did Lord Vader only disable the hyper drive? If Lord Vader didn't want the rebels to escape, why didn't he disable the ship entirely? 12) Why did the captain of the Imperial Stardestroyer not fire upon the lifepod with the droids carrying Death Star plans? The "official story" says he didn't find the any signs of life. He said "Hold your fire. There are no life forms. It must have been short-circuited." Why would he be looking for life when it was electronic plans he should have been looking for. Why did he jump to the conclusion it was "short-circuited". Is he a lifepod engineer? How can all this be just incompetence and coincidence? IMPOSSIBLE! The most important question of all is why would a shadowy group in the Empire want to destroy such a technological wonder? Is it an excuse to invade Hoth and steal their oil; a planet which didn’t have anything to do with the attacks. Or is it to take away your religious freedoms to practice the dark side of the force? As incredible as this sounds it makes more sense than the official story. The only way we will ever get answers to these and other troubling questions is by voting into the office those who will make an investigation into the official story a priority. Earlier Monday, television video showed police streaming into the sect's headquarters to seize documents and question members. Some news reports suggested Okuno, who owned a sushi restaurant, was killed as punishment for failing to carry out religious rites. Police launched an investigation after doctors who examined her bruised body raised the alarm, Kyodo said.
