If an accident is caught on video surveillance is that considered absolute evidence? I was exiting a parking garage on campus when the automated gate fell on top of my new Toyota corolla. When I got home I found that the roof was scratched up bad. I called the campus security office and when I told them what happened they told me that because I didn’t file a police report right then the parking garage couldn’t be held liable. When I asked if the video surveillance cameras could be use to prove the fact they told me "they're not big on that" what rights do I have here?

Is video surveillance camera technology stable? Strange question but I want to buy a video camera detector. Even stranger huh... I found out about these devices recently. It is a device that detects wireless video cameras that are monitoring you like in elevators, gas stations, banks and (I want to find out where else). These detectors have a video display [cool] and actually show you the vision of the surveillance cameras so you can find out where they are mounted. The trouble is, these detectors cost about 500 bucks so if the frequency range of the wireless monitors changes the detector will be obsolete and worthless. NOTE> This is not going to be used for terrorist activity so don't go thinking you will be a hero to report me to the feds. You may wonder why i would want such a toy but i am just extremely curious who is watching me and then i might wonder why. I remember speaking freely at gas station pumps and the cashier would be listening in on the conversation which i do think is totally illegal to do if not related to gas.

This day I decided to drive to the police station. I pulled up at a police station public parking lot adjacent to a camera. Video Surveillance? My home has recently been broken into twice in the last 2 weeks but nothing was taken. The first time it happened the only reason I knew was because my dog was outside and the 2nd time it happened while I was acually at home. Is it legal to put surveillance cameras...? I have some friends that work at a hair salon that was just purchased by new owners. These new people are freaks.. to say the least. They trust no one. Anyway, they put up 7 smoke detectors in the salon, 7! Its not that big of a place. Alot of the girls think they are actually video cameras that look like smoke detectors. ( these were shown on a news show not too long ago) Is it legal to "spy" on people without them knowing. I can see a surveillance camera around where the cash register or retail is, but they put them in the pedicure room, break room, etc. the reason this was brought to someones attention is that the owner commented on how my friend really works hard and makes sure the towel drawers are shut and little things like that. The owner is never there when she is, and was wondering how she "knew" that. They dont know if they have mics on them or not, or if they ARE indeed cameras. Is it possible to check? Is legal for my next door neighbour to perform concealed video surveillance? we are living in a duplex, but we have a shared backyard with separate entrances. The other day he concealed a webcamera behind the window of the bathroom facing our entrance to the backyard, where we usually spend time drinking tea, beer and just talking. Our gate was hit and broken two times, but we have been unable to determine who did it (probably am impatient driver). If we had a camera that could capture video for 24-48 hours (and then recycle), we could determine who is responsible for future incidents. Since there is only one entrance to the community (besides climbing over fences), this would also be a deterrent to criminals entering the community. There is a light pole with electricity near the entrance to the community, so power and view plane issues are not a problem. We just need to be sure the resolution of the images is sufficient to capture faily good images (license plate numbers, etc). This is Altanta, so severe weather is also not an issue. Finally, we are a small gated community, so we cannot afford very expensive options. Reliable, inexpensive solutions are preferred over high cost, high-tech solutions.
