Child Safety Seat Laws Knowledge Base

Does any one know the child safety seat laws for Texas or where I can find them online? I'll be visiting my in-laws in Texas & I don't want to have to bring all 4 car seats with me on a plane. That's a lot of stuff to be carrying along with keeping the kids in line. Not what I would call a good time! Thank you.

Child safety seat laws for Pennsylvania? I swear I've looked at 10 different websites but cannot find one that gives any info besides ages 4-8 need to be in a booster. My daughter is only 9 1/2 months old and 17 lbs / 27" so I know I won't be turning her around anytime soon but I'm trying to figure out what kind of car seat to buy. We're currently using the carrier/stroller combo that was my niece's but my sister is due again in December so I'll need to get a new one for my car. She will be 14 months old and probably just about 20-22 lbs in December. Anyone know where I can get this info?
child safety seats laws for church bus? Okay, so children under the age of 8 are required to ride in carseats or booster seats. School buses don't have booster seats. Do they even have seatbelts these days? What about church buses and vans? How do I find out what the laws are?
When traveling with kids still in a car/ booster seat what state laws should I follow? I am planning a vacation for my family and I have a 3 year old son who is in a booster seat. The booster seat he is in follows the law in the state we live. When traveling do I need to follow my state law (since that's our residency) or do i need to follow the law of each state we go through (4 states)? Each state is different so that means I may need a differnet type seat depending on the state and their law. I have already found the child safety seat laws for each state we will be traveling through, I just don't know if those laws apply to residents of the state or for anyone traveling through the state. What do I do, or where can I find this information at?
What are some child safety laws? When i look up child safety laws all i get are sites about car seat safety laws but i need some other laws besides automotive laws. Can anyone find any good sites??
If there are so many child safety in cars laws out there, how did we Boomers survive in our parents cars? There are so many laws now out there regarding strapping a child into a safety seat or booster seat or whatever it takes so that your kid is not bounced around like a pinball while you're driving. When we Boomers were kids, there were no such laws (not to mention no seat belts or anything else of that nature) and we survived things that would make a younger person of today's hair curl. Do you think that the government wants the next generation to become a bunch of marshmallows or is there a real danger out there that didn't exist 40 or 50 years ago. Come on - let's make sense!
Law for child safety seat in single cab pickup truck? i live in california.how to situate the seat and cani have a passenger plus the child in the truck.my truck has a bench seat. It's toyota tacoma.
How do I get the seatbelts in my 99 Windstar to lock so that I can install a child safety seat? I'm borrowing my in-law's 99 Ford Windstar and need to install 2 child safety seats in the 2nd row seat. But it seems to me that the seatbelts do not lock, so there is no way to keep the seat installed tightly. In my car that I usually drive, you need to pull the seatbelt all the way out in order for it to "lock". Any ideas?

When will the Insurance Lobby force us to have Medical insurance like the did Auto insurance? Forced auto insurance, seat belt laws, helmet laws, child safety seats, laws and regulations, all brought upon us by insurance companies who use government regulation to maximize their profits. Isn't it only a matter of time before they get their friends in Washington to make Health Insurance Mandatory? Or is that the republican plan for reform?
Does my child need the back on their child safety seat? I have two children, one 5 yrs 30 lbs, one 7 yrs 40 lbs. They both sit comfortably and safely in two part child seats (seat and back) with the adult seat belt threaded appropriately under the seat's arm rest. I was wondering if the seat back is required. I was looking at laws state-by-state and none of them refer to a seat back. Most states talk about elevating the child with the seat bottom to use the adult seat belt, but nothing about the back. And what about on airplanes? Airlines don't use over-the-shoulder straps, so shouldn't the seat be enough? Please help!
child safety laws in CA? my step daughter is almost 7 years old (in feb) and she weighs about 50 lbs. what are the laws as far as booster seats, and back seat/ front seat? in california.
Child Safety Seat? My son is 6 years old and is about 55 lbs. He keeps bugging me to let him out of his booster seat. I am sick of listening to him complain about it, but I don't want to get a ticket or have to pay some kind of fine. Know any good websites where I could find laws or guidelines on this subject?
child safety laws in ca? I discovered my ex was making my 6 year old ride sitting on the floor of their car because there was no passenger seat. I estimate this must have happened at least 30 times. After I found out I insisted they install a seat, which they did before the next visitation. I am considering calling CPS because of the repeated endangerment of my child, but what can they do now since it has been fixed? Is this criminal and if so what are the consequences?
Child Safty Seat Laws? I know you are suppose to have a child in the backseat in a safety chair but what if I only owned a 2 seat car. Could I get ticketed? and what would be the defense?
Child Safety Seat Replacement after a car accident? I was recently involved in a fender bender. Not much damage but a dented in front corner. Me and my 14 month old son were in the car at the time. I've been told that I can get a replacement car seat from the other guys insurance along with my repairs. The damage isn't bad at all, but i've been told that "by law" they are required to replace my child's car seat. Does anyone know if this is true? Before I go talking to the insurance adjuster talking about "the law", I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about. Can anyone help me out? by the way, i'm in Texas. It was the other guys fault. If this is true, a direct link to the information would be helpful. Or something I can tell the insurance company, "look at this". Thanks
child car restraint safety laws? I discovered my ex was making my 6 year old ride sitting on the floor of their car because there was no passenger seat. Do we have to let a child go with someone who doesn't have a car seat? Our current custody agreement says my stepdaughter goes to her mom's every other weekend. I found out that MN has changed their car seat laws and the child is required to be in a booster seat. Since the child was 4, her mom has never put her in a car seat. My question is...the custody agreement says we have to let her to go her mom's every other weekend otherwise we are in contempt, but what should we do if her mom shows up without a car seat? Do we still let her go because it's court ordered, or with hold the child until the mom has a car seat for the child safety? Thinking of the child's safety is being petty? Being petty would be letting the child go, then turn around and call the cops to pull her over. I'm trying to do the right thing. If we let her use ours, we wouldn't get it back. We have lost many items because the mother wouldn't return them with the child. ...and yes, we are planning on notifying the mother of the change in law so she has time to obtain a proper seat.
Front facing car seats, old vs. new.? I have a 14 month old that's ready for a front facing car seat. I didn't think about it until recently, but it's an older one where there's a kind of handle bar thing that comes down over the head and fastens in front of the stomach/ chest of the child. I started looking online today and I don't see any of these car seats being sold. Are they still safe? Or are they no longer considered safe after all the new child safety seat laws? Any answer will be appreciated.

taxis are exempt from many safety laws do they have fewer accidents? an example would be new booster seat laws (UK) a taxi has seat belts normally and is no more safe than a normal car indeed often it is a normal car not a black cab just a taxi driver so shouldn't the law apply and the parents provide legal seating for each child - the legislatition is in regards to hieght for seatbelt use - because the seatbelts aren't safe under certain hieghts should taxi drivers refuse parents that dont have their kids carry their own booster seat - im not referring to babies just the older children that this new legislation will effect that are out of baby carriages the 5 + age group ( eg you go shopping and walk there and take a taxi home) some but not all of our local councils are providing some booster seats to taxi firms doing school runs (i think this is just to cover the councils backs not for the sake of the children) should this of been covered by the legislation
why don't taxis carry child booster seats to increase safety? I know its not law for children to use car seats and boosters when traveling a short journey in a taxi but why dont taxi drivers take the initiative to improve the safety of the passangers they carry?
What is the age limit for a child to sit in the front seat of a vehicle in the State of Texas? I know that it safer for a child under a certain age or weight to be in a restraint/car seat in the back seat, and not in the front seat for safety reasons such as the air bags inguring a child. I just need to know at what age can a child sit in the front seat by texas law. or is there a law for this? Thanks

Woman Breast Feeding While Driving - Her excuse? religious belief? But wait, it gets better, she could of paid a $100 fine and been done with it but her hubby steps in: RAVENNA, Ohio — A woman accused of endangering her baby by breast-feeding while driving on the Ohio Turnpike should not be the defendant, her husband said. He wants to be prosecuted instead, citing a religious belief. A trucker called 911 May 8 to report that he had seen the woman driving her car with a baby in her lap. maximum penalties of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. She could have had the original police charges, driving without a license, obstructing official business and violating the child safety-seat law, reduced to a single guilty plea to driving under suspension, according to court records. She then could have closed her case by posting a $100 fine. But her husband, Brad L. Barnhill, 46, said religious beliefs put him in charge of his wife’s actions. “I’m responsible for what she does, and no one can punish her except me,” he said. “If they refuse to allow me the free exercise of my religion, then we’re going to appeal this all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States and they’re not going to be able to try her before then.” http://www.religionnewsblog.com/3555/husband-of-breast-feeding-driver-wants-to-be-tried
If you have been involved in an accident and your child was in the car seat? My cousin was involved in an accident and her child was in the car in her car seat. Is there a law that once a car seat has been involved in an accident that it has to be replaced for the safety of the child?
New car seat law?My son is 2 and ex has just bought a booster seat for ages 3-12 yrs weight 15kg-36kgs.? Is there a motorcycle safety belt or some other safety device used to connect a young child to the driver? My little girl cannot reach the footpegs (by 8-10 inches) and she is pestering me to take her for a ride ever since she got a helmet for her 5th birthday. I would love to, but safety comes first. I have asked a Michigan State Police Officer about laws govorning child passengers on motorcycles and he informed me that there is no age limit, and the only law he was familiar with was that for a passenger to ride on a motorcycle, the bike has to have 2 things - a rear seat and rear footpegs.
child in seatbelt at this age only? What are the laws for new mexico as far as letting a child that is 8 years old and 60 pounds ride in the car without a booster seat anymore? This is what I found New Mexico younger than 1 year in a rear-facing infant seat; 1 through 4 years or less than 40 pounds in a child safety seat; 5 through 6 or less than 60 pounds in a booster seat and Adult safety belt permissible 7 through 17 years $25 children younger than 1 year in a rear-facing infant seat must be in the rear seat if available
Shouldn't we dump seat-belt laws$$$$$$$$? Okay...before you blow you top with me...let me give you my view point. Children YES, no question. I WEAR my seat-belt, I always have..it's a smart thing that may save my life and I believe everyone should. but, should it be FORCED on us by our government with the threat they will extract $100-$300 everytime they "catch" us violating one of their "Protect me from myself laws". Speaking as an adult shouldn't I have the simple right not to put on my seat-belt...it's a simple choice that belongs to ME...not government bureacrats who don't give a damn about us. These safety laws a designed to make them $$$ and that is the simple fact..a hidden tax. In my state alone they rasied 136 million in fines and the accident rate and mortality rate is unchanged for the past 9 years. What has changed is millions in THEIR pockets...and with a sheep-like mentality they believe this is somehow savings lives..SEAT-BELT do save lives but it should be our choice..laws don't save lives..choices do!
Question about booster seats? My daughter is two years old and weights about 35 lbs. She is a very big and tall girl for her age and wears a size 3 in clothes. The trouble is that her convertable car seat is not fitting her in the straps and I have a hard time strapping her in nowadays. What do you do in this situation -put her in a booster seat? Below is the state law for car seats/boosters. Would it be bad to switch, I have released as much of the strap as I can! Requirements of the Colorado Law Forward Facing Child Restraint Systems The law requires that children ages one year to four years who weigh 20 pounds up to 40 pounds be restrained in a forward-facing child safety seat. Booster Seats The law requires that children who weigh over 40 lbs. or who are at least four years old but less than six years old be properly restrained in a child booster seat or with a child safety belt-positioning device, unless they are 55 inches tall. I think its safer to put her in one that fits, right?!! I am just confused because she is a lot bigger than average kids her age and I could keep on smushing her in that seat but it seems like its uncomfortable for her and I have maxed out the straps and adjustments... Its a 5 point harness system by the way...
New Child Restraint Laws in Australia - How to afford? New child restraint laws are coming out in Australia beginning of next year. I have read up, and my daughter, who is 2 years old, 15.5kgs, and is about 90cm tall, has just graduated up to a booster seat with safety harness - due to her weight and height being over her car seat limitations. However according to this law, she must remain in a five point harness car seat. For me to do that, I need to buy a brand new car seat (which I have heard is roughly $300 each), and with a 3 year old who is roughly the same weight and height as my 2 year old, this means 2 car seats. How on earth am I to afford to buy these expensive car seats. I live in WA. The laws apparently come in here by January 2010. That is what I was told. Ours does include a racing harness (as they are called), but only after they are a certain weight and height.
what is your opinion about the law requiring children to be in a booster seat up if they are shorter than 4'9" I know adults who are 4'9". Is there something going on behind the scenes that has little to do with actual child safety?
Not using a car seat for a child. is this child endangerment? My 5yr. grandson, by law is suppose to be in a car seat. But his mother never puts him in one, when she drives. She already has 2 tickets for this. But still disregards the law and the safety of her son. Nothing i say does any good. Anyone have a sugestion?
What would you do if a child you cared for was riding in the front seat? A child that I care for rides home every day in the front seat of the car with the seatbelt tucked behind him. He is 4 years old and about 50 lbs. He should be in the back seat, in a booster according to the law. He also brags that when his mom drives past a cop he has to lay his seat back so noone sees him. What would you do?? In addition to this, the child is mildy delayed (does not know colors, counting, letters, simple shapes (circle, square etc...)). This I can work with , but I am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of parenting. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced this as well as parents who let their 4 year olds ride up front, despite the increased knowledge about auto safety and air bag dangers to children. What should I do?? Mind my own business- or say something?
child safety in tenn. please? need #1 answers only why is it difficult to get an officer to check on child car restraint safety??the child being placed in the front seat.also is there a law in tenn.that a 2 year old female should NOT be sleeping in a twin bed with her "father" even just on week ends???
Does my toddler have to sit in car seat on united flight? I'm flying from LAX-Europe w/ a layover in Chicago. We are flying w/ united from LAX-ORD and then SAS to Europe. My daughter will be over 2yrs old when we leave and I have bought a seat for her. When I talked to United airlines they told me my daughter has to sit in a carseat, but on their website it says: 'You may use an approved infant car seat on board the aircraft when you purchase a seat for your child. The seat must be an FAA-approved child safety seat device.' My daughters birthday is just 3 days before we go, so maybe they got confused with her age. So, is it a FAA law that she has to sit in a carseat?
Which car seat? Safe'n'Sound Maxi Rider OR Safety 1st Prospect (for the aussie's)? I am looking at these two different car seats for my youngest son and am undecided on which one is better. I want one that is going to be able to be used till he is 6-7yo because the new car seat laws are coming in in a few months. He is currently 14 months old so we are going to have it for a long time. http://www.ingoodcare.com.au/igc/pages/safety1st/ http://www.britax.com.au/Websites/Business/brproddb.nsf/LUPages/Child%20Car%20Seats-Maxi%20Rider%20AHR# As far as meeting current safety standards, they are both the same so that is not an issue really. The price is $100 different though, I can get the Maxi Rider at $399 or the prospect at $299 so its a big price difference but I am willing to pay the higher price if it means I get a better car seat. I have two other car seats in the car (another older maxi rider and a small booster seat) as well so that has to be taken into consideration with space being an issue. Which one do you like better and please give me specific reasons why you think one is better than the other. Also do you know of any other car seats that are this style (8-26kg with built in harness) other than the HiPod from target (which i think is a little cheap/plasticky)? Thanks!
What is the current law regarding child car seats in Florida? My kids are 5 and 6, we are from the UK and at home they are required to be in booster seats. We are going to Florida in June and I plan on taking booster seats or maybe buying them from Walmart with as they are really expensive to rent. I was just wondering what the law is, please don't answer regarding safety and what would be best, I obviously am going to make sure my kids are safe, I just want to know what the law is. Thanks.

Do to the stupid child restraint laws, should car makers....? make back seats to raise up to the height level requirments? I wonder what excuse state lawmakers will use if someone had their back seat taken out and lifted. Washington state law is 8 years old or 4' 9" and child must be over 13 to ride in front seat. Most back seats only have 3 seat belts which makes it impossible for my neighbor to pick up his 5 kids from school at the same time. Yet it is ok for a kid to ride in a truck bed. Makes me wonder if lawmakers are concerned about safety or more ways to increase revenue. Some people believe the "underdeveloped stomach muscle" excuse they are using. I don't. I was was in a serious car accident when I was a kid and the seat belt did not do any damage to my stomach musles. Neither did getting kicked in the stomach by a horse or hanging upside down in a ferris wheel with the belt digging into my stomach for 20 minutes until they fixed it. Hogwash to the lawmakers.... Seat belts save lives. Statistics do not show that child booster seats or car seats for kids over 6 save lives. Imagine, how many people will have to upgrade their cars to vans and SUV's just to be sure the family members under 13 are in the back. Cars are not made to stuff 4 or more car seats in the back seat. If lawmakers were so concerned over safety, they need to look at the statistics for crashes involving the little gas saver vehicles. That will never happen because our laws are dictated by corporations and then the insurance industry. Laws are not dictated over concern for the average taxpaying citizen.
I was cited for no seat belt while operating a vehicle and i believe the fine is wrong. Can i fight this? I was cited for not wearing a seat belt while operating a motor vehicle in Texas. Chp 545 Sec 413 of the Texas Law states that: a) A person commits an offense if the person: (1) is at least 15 years of age (2) is riding in the front seat of a passenger vehicle while the vehicle is being operated; (3) is occupying a seat that is equipped with a safety belt; and (4) is not secured by a safety belt. (b) A person commits an offense if the person: (1) operates a passenger vehicle that is equipped with safety belts; and (2) allows a child who is younger than 17 years of age and who is not required to be secured in a child passenger safety seat system under Section 545.412(a) to ride in the vehicle without requiring the child to be secured by a safety belt, provided the child is occupying a seat that is equipped with a safety belt. (c) A passenger vehicle or a seat in a passenger vehicle is considered to be equipped with a safety belt if the vehicle is required under Section 547.601 to be equipped with safety belts. (d) An offense under Subsection (a) is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $25 or more than $50. An offense under Subsection (b) is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $100 or more than $200. I fall in to Subsection A as i was the only occupant of the vehicle and i did not have any unrestrained children in the vehicle. My fine is $135 but the law clearly states that for my charge the fine is not to exceed $50. Can i have this dismissed in court for wrongfully fined/accussed?
This is just horrible :( Please read!!!? On Monday there was an accident down the street from my house. It's a median intersection with stop lights, and they had the whole thing blocked off with caution tapes. The accident didn't look *that* bad, i've seen Alto worse. Just a van and a car collided. So we were all trying to figure out why all the ambulances and helicopters and caution tapes. Finally find out that a little boy was thrown from the car :( That's all we knew until this morning. He was airlifted to Children's Hospital and died Wednesday, he was only 4 years old :( The paper said the van ran a stop light while the car was turning left. The paper had the moms statement, saying her son was in the middle seat of her car, buckled with the vehicle seat belt, but was not using any child safety seat. Now the van driver is being charged with reckless homicide. He was only 4! My question is WHY wasn't he in a car seat. The law (at least in WI) states you have to remain in a booster until age 8. At 4, he could still be using a 5 point harness car seat. I know my niece was in a car seat until she was 5 1/2. More than likely that car seat would have saved his life!!! This story just hits too close to home for me (literally!). Why are parents so careless when it comes to car seat safety? I mean even people on here...make comments about how they turned their child forward at 10 months or they would never keep an older child in a car seat, it's embarrassing for them, or keeping a child rear facing is uncomfortable! There is a woman in my apartment building who has a 3 year old and a child under a year. The 3 year old has been in a high back booster for AT LEAST the past year and a half and the little baby is forward facing, he's about 8 months! Now the little girl sits in the same booster but without the back! I see this ALL the time, even my family! I know so many people (from working at the daycare especially) who buy the littlest car seat and when their child grows out of it at 2 or 3, they don't want to spend the money on a bigger harnessed car seat, so they just end up buying a booster seat! Then there is me who has my daughter rear facing still at 16 months and gets told i'm not "following directions." Ugh! This just pisses me off! It is just me, or does this stuff bother you too? I just feel horrible after hearing this! Aloha - I had my neice for a week back in sept. and i had just bought my daughter a Graco MyRide 65 at the time, she rode in it all week (yes she fit, both by hieght and wieght), even to school, and would proudly get out and tell her friends "i got to sit in the car seat, i'm safer like that." She was 6 1/2 at the time and in 1st grade. My daughter was still using her infant carrier so it worked out great :)
Do kids need to be in a car seat when traveling to Grand Cayman? We will be traveling to Grand Cayman in February 2008 with our 2 year old daughter. Does anyone know if Cayman law requires children to be in car seats? I know for her safety it is best but I was curious.
Why don't school buses have seat belts? Since wearing a seat belt is the law and a child's safety is very important, then why don't we put seat belts on school buses. I just don't get it.
When will Seat-Belt Laws be declared Unconstitutional? Let's put on our thinking caps before we spew out stupidity. In the past 20 years driving fatalities have gone up at the same rate per year..there has been NO CHANGE since seat-belt laws were enacted 5 years ago. NO ONE is saying children shouldn't be required to wear seat-belts...I WOULD never drive a car without one...it's cheap insurance and it's smart and your stupid if you don't. This is NOT what this is about...you should have a RIGHT to choose. So what's the difference here: In my State the Pin-Heads took in 125 MILLION in FINES in 2006. If you think that bureaucrats give a damn about YOUR saftey..think again!! This is 100% about a hidden tax...all in the name of "SAFETY" When ever the government, Fed, state or local level talk about keeping you safe, your health, your children...WATCH OUT...they are reaching for your wallet? Now watch government employees jump all over me... I WILL answer you back... do you agree? Union...uhhhh where's your FACTS??? forgot them?????? sensible......what? BRENT...FINALLY intelligence has spoken! Good job!
Sikh - Is Safety Sacriligous? C-Span is showing House Oversight Hearing on construction of US Embassy in Baghdad for which many Sikh have been imported, Under US law, construction workers are supposed to wear various safety harnesses when several stories up on girders, also safety helmets (hard hats). It was alleged that their religion demands they wear turbans and no provision for safety hat over that, further that it is God's will whether anyone is killed, injured, or escapes the hazards of risks of man made construction. By this logic, India should not have any seat belts in cars, no air bags, no safety seats for children, that it would be a crime against God to create some head gear that looked like a turban but also protected head like a hard hat does. Is this true, or have US sub-contractors corrupted the spirit of Sikh religious and cultural beliefs? Here's links to information about the US Government House of Representatives Committee on Government Oversight and Reform http://oversight.house.gov/ hearing into alleged problems in the construction of the US Embassy in Baghdad, using workers mainly from the Indian Sub-continent. http://www.c-span.org/videoarchives.asp?CatCodePairs=Current_Event,Iraq&ArchiveDays=30 http://oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=1432 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/26/AR2007072601792.html There were a lot of accusations, counter claims, different versions of stories and explanations. When a safety expert asked why Sikh workers were not wearing safety gear, the explanation had to do with the Sikh religion. I was hoping that someone knowlegeable in it could clarify whether that explanation was valid.
Safety reins? Why do some parents object to putting their toddlers into safety reins or at least a wrist strap these days? I brought up four boys on my own and couldn't have gone shopping without growing two more arms (at least!) when they were all tiny and the older two were out of the pushchair stage without their reins. It may seem fine with only one toddler but it is better to be safe than sorry and I never lost any of mine even temporarily and God forbid if they had slipped away and run into the road! What is the objection? All of this nonsense about "restricting" children annoys me - they *need* to be restricted for their own good - will these same parents disobey the new law on child seats and proper seatbelts to keep children safe in cars? I never drove anyway and that is why I kept my boys safe (and healthy) when walking to the shops and so on and taught them road safety once they were older and out of reins but when they were little I didn't take any risks with their lives. Here is a site on the new car seat law and other safety issues for those who *do* drive their children everywhere (which is harmful in and of itself) - http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/index.htm
what do you think on the parents choosing to ignore the new car seat law in UK coming in on the 18th eptember? i work in an nursery store, and i have had some parents refusing to pay out on booster seats even though their child does not meet the criteria to not have one because it costs too much money? Surely a childs safety is worth more than money?
What can I do? I have seen so many kids in their parent's cars not wearing their seatbelt. Just this afternoon, I saw a little boy (with a pacifier in his mouth), he looks about 2 years old, standing up in his (I'm guessing) mother's suv. They were driving along and he was in and out of his seat. Is'nt it the law in all states that all kids should be in a car seat or booster seat? What can I or anyone do if you see a child not wearing a seat belt or in a child safety seat? It is very frustrating because I see it so often and it seems as though there is nothing I can do. Should I just mind my business and continue to shake my head in dismay? Then listen to the news that some child flew out to the vehicle in and accident because they were not in a safety seat?!! Ofcoure the parents are to blame because they are responsible for those kids.............ok, I'm done venting.....express your opinion or suggestions if you like.
Re-posting this again for more opinions...Car seat Safety...? Despite the laws regarding an infant in Rear Facing position for 1 year and 20 lbs, why do parents still tend to switch for Forward Facing before the child is 1 year old, even though their weight is over 20 lbs? I know they say the infant is happier and they can see out the window and all, but the child shouldn't have a say in how they sit, cause they don't know about accidents and how they can be severely hurt in a crash, only the parents know. So, why make the child happy, by putting them in more danger? The child should have no say in how they sit, since they have no idea about safety. Even if their legs are really long, wouldn't it be better to have potentially broken legs than a spinal injury? Also, I do realize some have siblings in which are sitting forward, but should THAT really give you the idea to make the decision to FF your child too young, for the child happiness? I just want to know, why parents (not the ones who keep RF, but the ones who do it too early) do this? Why? MJ, you didn't answer my question. By Howdy: They do make convertible seats. And you said a screaming baby annoys you more than the safety? An advantage to see the child is not worth the risk. The convince of getting the child in the seat, is not worth the risk. Stacy S: They do make convertible car seats that go up to 35lbs. My son hasn't used an infant seat since he was 4 months old, but he will be RR well past age 1. Also, for you uneducated mind, BROKEN LEGS ARE BETTER THAN YOUR CHILD HEAD BEING THROW FROM HIS SPIN, wow you are such a smart cookie. And Stacy S. I want to add that I want to know about those mothers who FF before age one, again you read so well. Well Satcy S. I have been using yahoo for several years, missy miss miss, LMAO. And I do spend my time after my son is asleep on here before bed. So what? Don't be mad cause I pointed YOU out. I didn;t say what you said was bad, but you can RF in convertible car seats. I mean, my son is not 1 yet, and we have been out of an infant seat a long time ago. YOU must have some time on your hands too since you edited your UNEDUCATED comment. AS of now, I have answered 2,604 questions in a 3 year period miss Stacy S.
Child in front seat? What are the laws in Ireland regarding allowing a 6 year old in the front seat of the car, they would be provided with the proper booster seat and be wearing a safety belt. Please note that their will be two more kids in the back so no more room for extra booster seat in back therefor need to put him in front.
Children in the Front Seat? I know that there is not a very binding law about children sitting the "shotgun" seat of a car. From a safety point of view, when is it safe for a child to sit in front. I have been arguing with a friend about this for a while. She says that her son weighs enough to sit in from, while he is only 11. SOmewhere I read that 12 is the safest age to start sitting in front because your bone structure is developed enough to handle the airbag. Is this true?
In Ontario, should a car seat be rear facing once a baby reaches 20lbs? We are putting her in a Safety 1st® 'Intera' Convertible Car Seat as she has out grown the infant seat. She is very tall. With my other children, once they reached 20lbs it was safe to use a forward facing seat. Have the laws changed? It does seem to sound safer to me.
Should my husband and I buy a new car or save the money? I've been e mailing him lately and we have been discussing whether we should buy a 2008 Mustang. He recently got promoted to PFC and the money is "burning a hole in our pockets" lol lol. We don't have any expenses because I'm staying with our wonderful son at my mother in laws and she pays for everything, including letting me use one of her cars. I'm starting college again in Summer and of course I will be paying fees and for books, but its in state and at the local community college. My mom has agreed to watch the baby while I attend class so no child care expenses. He lives in Army quarters and has his meals and living expenses all provided. He recently bought a new lap top and they have Wi Fi in the place on base he goes to hang out when he is off duty so virtually he doesn't have any expenes either. Ok, he wants a Mustang (so do I) but is there a space for a baby in the back in an approved child safety seat? What other cars would you recommend?
law enforcement personnel especially... should I dial 911 to report... (see details)? ...these azzholes I see driving around with unrestrained children? Today I saw these people in a late model SUV driving with a 3-4 year old child standing up, walking around the vehicle. Not in an approved child safety seat, not even in a seatbelt. The kid was doing this for about 15 miles. I thought about dialing 911 to report their dumb azzes, but I wonder if 911 would think that was a trivial call and get mad at me? I was in my car, and didn't have access to a phone book to find out the local dispatcher's number. I didn't call because I thought that it didn't constitute enough of an "emergency" to tie up the 911 system... I guess I'm asking what would YOU have done...
What states have the seat belt law for adults? Do you agree with it? I thought that it was a law for children everywhere but I guess I was wrong. I do understand why they have them for kids and even young teens but I think it's garbage that they have it for adults. I wear my seat belt too but I took it iff for a second so I could turn around and hand my son a sandwich. We hadn't eaten for the day and it was 12:00. We woke up and rushed to the vet because my dogs stitches where bleeding after his $1,000. surgery. I already took money from everything I had to pay for that and then I had to pay $75 for a ticket when I do wear my seat belt. All they are doing it for is money. If they really cared about safety they would start with the school bus. My son takes the bus and he is in pre-school and they don't even have the option to wear a seatbelt... oh but that would cost money, not make them money. OK first of all that excuse for needing to get kids off the bus you can say the same thing for a parents with a van full of kids. Seatbelts can save lives and take them. I wear my seatbelt but I think I should beable to take it off if I need to tend to my kids. I mean you can still ride a motercycle even thougth it is not the safest thing. I never said they should ban seatbelts. There is so many things that people do that is dangerous right in front of their kids. There is sports (like football), mountain climbing, parachuting, stunts, you get the point. I am not a huge risk taker but turning around to give my son food should not be a crime. My brother and 4 friends almost died in a car accident and I was in a car accident when I was 13 and my back will never be the same. I do think it is rediculous all the same.
Car seat...a few questions? What are your laws regarding car seats in Australia? Do you think America should extend their laws for longer RF? What do YOU think is best when using a car seat for a child? (RF FF at what age and why? I think America should extend their laws longer. I think RF is best for the safety of the child. I know the 20lbs and 1 year rule, by the way; so you know that is not what I am asking for some of you non-readers. YOU? My child is 22lbs and 9 1/2 months old by the way. If you are unsure, answering as "um" only shows your stupidity. It is a serious question cause I am so sick of all the uneducated/ignorant parents out there putting their children in danger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2DVfqFhseo&feature=related When I say uneducated/ignorant, I am talking about those who switch BEFORE the law. Before one and before 20lbs as for American standards miss sunny. My point of view...

"Horror writer King blasts banning violent video games..."Reporting by Belinda Goldsmith, AP NEWS Sydney" I read this article and it made me realize that the boycott here is not only banning violent vidoe games ===which I support 150%==but also boycotting any Stephen King movie or book. He some how thinks this ban is an infringement of his Constitutional rights? Can Anyone explain to me how states making legislature to PROTECT and CENSOR material for MINORS is wrong? We have been doing that since we made child labor laws, enforced protective laws regarding the safety of our children in automobiles (state mandated seat beat laws), and many others. Does King suggest in his irrational rambling on that minors do NOT have the RIGHT to be protected from ADULT Molesters? Isn't all that violent psycho stuff king pumps out rated R or X for all its horror??? Boo-for King on this one. He should've just been quiet! Horror Writer Stephen King - News Results.
