Child safety, Car seats - BeSafe iZi Combi reviews (which)? I'm trying to review child car seats and want a rear facing one that will last baby till he's (she maybe!) four. there are not many available in the UK (but loads from Sweden!). Does anyone have any reviews from independent sources such as Which! or even any feedback of their own? Thanks
Child Safety Car Seats for a Truck Question :)? We have a 2001 ford ranger with Jumper seats (Side Facing lap belt only) in the back. Then up front we have 3 seats (Passenger, Middle and Driver). The Passenger air bag CAN be easily turned off with the key. Now my question is if anyone knows if we can use the jumper seats? Is there a certain child car seat we need to buy or an attachment? Otherwise I know we can put then in a normal car seat in the Passenger side with the air bag off... But I wanted to know all my options before the baby is born :). We still have time since I am due in June... I just want to make sure we are prepared for our babies arrival. I always heard back seats are best...
Has anybody seen this ad campaign about Child Safety Car Seats? Saying keep Your kids in their car seats till they are 4 foot 9 4 foot 9????????????????? That's crazy! People...that's nearly five feet tall! I know shorter 40 year Olds. Talk about a bunch of traumatized Kids. Can You imagine taking you Kids to Junior High In A CAR SEAT??? Or how about if You had a short High School Sophomore...that would go over REAL well. They would never, and I mean NEVER live it down. I can understand and heartily approve of child safety but Great God Amighty peeps, this is ridiculous 4 foot 9???????? Your thoughts on this latest assault on common sense in America?

court ordered child car seat safety course? i got a ticket a little over 2 months ago mostly because i had loud music playing and the cop stopped me mostly for that. he saw that my child was in the back seat, now i know i shouldnt play loud music while my son is in the vehicle but he loves it he has my taste he's 3 years old and tells me to turn up the volume, but anyways the officer started to yell at me and said i was a bad parent so i told him to stop telling me about parenting and told him that that wasnt his job and we argued for a good minute and a half when he just got fed up and wrote me a ticket for not having my child seated the proper way just because he saw my son wiggling and moving back there, well anyways i knew he was gonna give me a ticket even if i had not argued with him thats why i did it. the court ordered me to take a class on child seat safety so my question is for anyone who has taken this class, how long is it and whats the average price. just courious thanks.
I am looking for the best video that shows the importants of child safety seats.? Beleive it or not. I am in Kuwait and here they don't require seatbelts or child safety seats. I am not kidding, children sit on adults laps. Some sit on their laps when they are driving or stick their heads out the windows like you see animals doing in the USA. I am having trouble convencing my husband's family on the imporants on putting my daughter in her car seat. My husband has even told them that he agrees with me and they must put her in a car seat. I have recently learned that behind my husband's and I's back that they have been just brushing our words aside and doing what they want. It makes me so mad and I can't trust them until I can get them to understand the dangers.
How do I arrange 3 children's car seats? I will soon have 3 kids (newborn, 2 year old, 5 year old) in either child safety seats or booster seats. How do I arrange the 3 seats in the back seat of my car to optimize my children's safety?
Child Safety Seat Replacement after a car accident? I was recently involved in a fender bender. Not much damage but a dented in front corner. Me and my 14 month old son were in the car at the time. I've been told that I can get a replacement car seat from the other guys insurance along with my repairs. The damage isn't bad at all, but i've been told that "by law" they are required to replace my child's car seat. Does anyone know if this is true? Before I go talking to the insurance adjuster talking about "the law", I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about. Can anyone help me out? by the way, i'm in Texas. It was the other guys fault. If this is true, a direct link to the information would be helpful. Or something I can tell the insurance company, "look at this". Thanks
child safety seats for vehicles? I am trying to find out what the rules are in michigan for upgrading a child from an infant seat to a front facing car seat. does the child have to be 1 year and over 20 lbs, or is the weight restriction enough? my son has already passed this weight restriction and I am trying to see if he has to be a year old as well.
Where to get child car seats in Kuwait? I am presently working in Kuwait but will be bringing my family from Australia for several months. I have a two year old boy and given what I have seen in Kuwait already am a bit concerned that safety really is not on most drivers minds. I want to get a child car seat for the period duing which my family will be here but have no idea where to go. Another recent question in this category gave some very disturbing examples on the risks of not restraining children with the original question relating to Kuwait but the answer did not help on how or where to get such an important piece of equipment. Any suggestions?
Where do you find car seat safety ratings? (please read)? I read online to go to http://www.nhtsa.gov/ BUT It said to click on "child seat ratings" and I could not find that stupid button!!! Can anybody direct me to the list of child car seat safety ratings? Please look at the site first before you type it in. I'm looking for the ratings for a Cosco Scenera 5 point car seat. Thanks
Is there a lock for child safety seats/? My two year old can get out of any child safety seat made. He does this while I am driving. Is there anything available that can keep him from undoing his car seat straps?
I need help to open my own web site. It has to do with child safety in a car seat.PLEASE HELP ME!? I have filed for a patent and have obtained a trademark called KID-LOVE. This is a tool for use in weaving a seatbelt through the back of a childs carseat which anyone who has ever installed a childs carseat knows how difficult this can be. You place the carseat firmly in the backseat of your vehicle. Then you slide the handle with a hook type object through the back of the childs carseat and attach the seatbelt on the hook portion of the handle. You then gently pull the seatbelt through the back of the carseat. Remove the handle and connect the seatbelt. The childs carseat should now be nice and secure, thus now making your child safer and making the installation so much easier. They come in red, green, yellow and blue. If you or anyone you know would like one, please send a check or moneyorder to Kid-Love for $4.99 Plus $2.00 P&H to Kid-Love, 266 Raven Rd. ,Victoria, Texas 77905
Does Air Canada provide child safety seats onboard? I'm travelling from UK to Canada. My daughter is 7 months old and I'm going to pay for her own seat- they have an option for the child to travel on parent's lap but not keen on this. I've read Canada Air's terms which say that the child safety seat to be used 'must be certified to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard' but since I did not buy my daughter's car seat from Canada I doubt it meats those regulations. The terms state that a bassinet can be provided on a first come first served basis but what about a safety seat? Thanks
What is the current law regarding child car seats in Florida? My kids are 5 and 6, we are from the UK and at home they are required to be in booster seats. We are going to Florida in June and I plan on taking booster seats or maybe buying them from Walmart with as they are really expensive to rent. I was just wondering what the law is, please don't answer regarding safety and what would be best, I obviously am going to make sure my kids are safe, I just want to know what the law is. Thanks.
What is the safest front facing child safety seat to purchase? My Grandsons pediatrician told my daughter today that it was time to change car seats. He is now 20 pounds and his little feet hang over the edge of his infant carrier. Since I am fortunate enough to be able to pick him up from day care and spend time with him until his Mom gets off work, I will be purchasing one for my car as well.
How can I safely install a child safety seat in an older car (1994 Honda Civic)? I have a 1994 Honda Civic DX. I want to install a newer child safety seat, LATCH system compliant, which requires a top tether anchor. This seat ("Safeguard Go") has been great in our other car but you can't just use the lap belt, you have to attach the top tether somewhere as well. Someone must make a kit of parts that allows you to retrofit an older car with a top tether that's LATCH compliant? But even though I'm relatively good at Googling, I can't seem to find one. I have seen implications that there were some kind of standard anchor point mounts in older cars that were ready to have anchors installed, but specific info to a 1994 Civic hasn't been easy to come by. I did try calling the dealer but they want nearly $100 to do it. Anyhow, any suggestions would be great. Addendum for MichaelS-- Not sure how to ask you specifically a q so I'm posting an addendum. The daughter I'm trying to install this seat for is autistic and very good at getting out of the lap/shoulder while driving, which is why I can't use them or a plain booster seat. It is discouraging to hear that there may not be a good spot to anchor a top tether (I see what you mean about the thin sheet metal.) I've been also interested in finding some kind of solution something like the harnesses they use on my daughter's school bus, and since you clearly know school buses thoroughly I'd love to ask you. Is there any way an individual with a car can get some kind of solution in their car something like the harnesses used on school buses, with kids who won't stay in their seats? I have looked at the website of a company called "EZ-ON" (ezonpro.com), are they safe? Broadly, what would you recommend for my case, short of buying a new car (not an option right now)? Thank you! Just wanted to add some follow up to my own question. I got some more info. from user 'MichaelS' who verified that EZ-ON is a widely used and accepted company for providing these kinds of products for school buses, and also makes products for the home market, so I am going to contact them. All the answers were useful but I'm picking the MichaelS one as the best one because it was the *most* useful to me.
Baby Car Seats Crash Test Information? Newborn and Baby Consumer Reports Magazine Crash test worries In its February 2007 issue, Consumer Reports magazine reported on crash tests it performed to test the safety of car seats. The results were not encouraging. Most of the infant car seats tested by Consumer Reports "failed disastrously" in crashes at speeds as low as 56 km/h. The seats came off their bases or twisted in place, the report said. In one case, a test dummy was hurled more than nine metres. Of the 12 car seats tested, Consumer Reports said it could recommend only two, and it urged a U.S. federal recall of the poorest performing seat, the Evenflo Discovery, which is not sold in Canada. All the car seats passed U.S. standards — but Consumer Reports argues those standards should be raised. To be sold in Canada and the United States, an infant seat must perform adequately in a 48 km/h frontal crash, and Consumer Reports found that all but the Discovery did so. But it noted that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducts its crash tests for new cars at higher speeds — 56 km/h for frontal crashes and 61 km/h for side crashes — so the magazine tested the seats at those speeds. "It's unconscionable that infant seats, which are designed to protect the most vulnerable children, aren't routinely tested the same as new cars," said Consumer Reports' Don Mays, a product safety director. The only seats that passed all the tests were the Baby Trend Flex-Loc and the Graco SnugRide with EPS — expanded polystyrene foam — both selling for about $90 US. Consumer Reports urged parents shopping for seats to buy one of those two, but it also noted that "any child car seat is better than no seat at all." It also said some seats performed better when attached by vehicle safety belts than when attached with the LATCH system. The system, which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, includes belts that hook the base of a car seat to metal anchors in the vehicle. Consumer Report Article On January 4, 2007, Consumer Reports published a safety alert in the U.S. claiming that most infant car seats failed their new front- and side-crash evaluation tests. The report also claims that of 12 seats tested, only two performed well: the Baby Trend Flex-Loc and the Graco SnugRide with EPS (i.e., expanded polystyrene). Only six of the twelve infant car seat models chosen by Consumer Reports for this testing are officially certified for and marketed in Canada. They are: the Graco SnugRide; the Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio SIP; the Evenflo Embrace V; the Graco SafeSeat; the Safety 1st Designer 22; and the Combi Centre ST. Transport Canada wants to reassure the Canadian travelling public that the Department’s collision investigations and data analyses do not support the results obtained by Consumer Reports. When car seats are used correctly, they perform effectively in motor vehicle collisions and child occupants are afforded optimum protection. The Department takes the safety of children travelling in vehicles very seriously and is continually working to improve crash protection for children through research, development and enforcement of safety regulations, participation in various national and international committees that work on policy development, and public awareness campaigns.

Is there an alternative to using children car seats on airplanes ? I am travelling with my toddler soon who is 24 months old. I cannot bear the hassle of bringing his car seat with me on that plane, as it is very bulky and i heard you can be prevented from using it in the aircraft. Does anyone know of any alternative to provide seat safety/comfort for a toddler on an airplane ? Thanks.
Child Car Seats - do you know where a good website review is? Hey all...do you know where I can find a review on what the safest car seats available are? Looked around and the only one I can find is 'Which' and to get the review costs 80 quid for a subscription! Really looking for an impartial web review on the safety of all the seats available and the ease of use of each seat. Any help greatly appreciated. By the way I'm in the UK so American websites are not any use as seats differ here. Ta....
Can you put a child safety seat in a 1993 Ford F150? I need to know if I can use a carseat for a 3 year old in a 1993 Ford F150 pick up truck. It only has one row of seating (drivers, middle, and passenger). I need to be able to carry a 3 year old in the car seat and a 6 year old .
WHAT DO i DO WITH MY OLD CHILD SAFETY SEAT? The car seat I have is old (about 8 years). It was my little brothers. I bought my son a new one and do not know what to do with the old one. Can they be recycled? It is illegal to resale used car seats in my state (MO) and you should only accept a used car seat if you know it's exact history.
If there are so many child safety in cars laws out there, how did we Boomers survive in our parents cars? There are so many laws now out there regarding strapping a child into a safety seat or booster seat or whatever it takes so that your kid is not bounced around like a pinball while you're driving. When we Boomers were kids, there were no such laws (not to mention no seat belts or anything else of that nature) and we survived things that would make a younger person of today's hair curl. Do you think that the government wants the next generation to become a bunch of marshmallows or is there a real danger out there that didn't exist 40 or 50 years ago. Come on - let's make sense!
What are some child safety laws? When i look up child safety laws all i get are sites about car seat safety laws but i need some other laws besides automotive laws. Can anyone find any good sites??
Need car seats for my kids? I'm trying to get on my feet, and am severely hurting for money at the moment. I just got a car, and need to know if theres somewhere here in Spfld MO that gives away child safety seats? Please help!
What is the penalty for not using child safety seat? My neighbors have a 9 months old infant. They don't use a child safety seat when riding in the car. The baby is ALWAYS on the mother's lap and in the front seat. There isn't even a child seat in the car. I'd like to make an anonymous tip to the police, but I'm not sure how to do this. Don't the police actually have to catch them in the act? Also does anyone know the penalty for not using a child-safety seat in Wisconsin? These parents aren't young (mom is over 30, dad is over 40) and they ceratainly aren't poor. I don't understand why they are taking this chance with their precious child...
Front facing car seats, old vs. new.? I have a 14 month old that's ready for a front facing car seat. I didn't think about it until recently, but it's an older one where there's a kind of handle bar thing that comes down over the head and fastens in front of the stomach/ chest of the child. I started looking online today and I don't see any of these car seats being sold. Are they still safe? Or are they no longer considered safe after all the new child safety seat laws? Any answer will be appreciated.
child car restraint safety laws? I discovered my ex was making my 6 year old ride sitting on the floor of their car because there was no passenger seat. I estimate this must have happened at least 30 times. After I found out I insisted they install a seat, which they did before the next visitation. I am considering calling CPS because of the repeated endangerment of my child, but what can they do now since it has been fixed? Is this criminal and if so what are the consequences? I hope answer #1 is being sarcastic...
Has anyone safely installed a child seat in their classic car? I have a late 60's ford, and I dont have the financial means to get a newer car. Everywhere I have called regarding safety seats turns out to be some jerk trying to sell me a late model used car. This even happened when I called SEATCHECK. I believe it is possible to retrofit a latch system in my vehicle. Has anyone else done this? I want my baby to be as safe as possible. Please dont respond telling me to get another car, because if I could, I would in a heartbeat.
Child safety in the car. Unreasonable parents.? I live in a big city so I see situations like this almost every day: kids jumping all over the car back seats, hanging between the driver and passenger seat, kneeling on the back seat looking through the back window, not that they don't even have appropriate seats in the car they also don't have the seat belts put on. Are some parents really that unreasonable? Is it worth injuring ( the best case scenario) your own child than take a few seconds to fasten the seat belts? Do you let your children behave like that in the car? Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions. I'd never let my children out of their seats. They are always strapped in. My 4 1/2 year old always checks if all the seatbelts are fastened :) He knows it's for our own safety.
Why does a rear facing car seat need to be positioned at a 45 degree angle? I consider myself well-informed about child safety seats and their installation, but I am curious as to WHY a rear-facing seat needs to be at a 45 degree angle. I'm not disputing this, I'm just curious what would happen if it was installed tightly but at a 90 degree angle, with the child lying flat on his back. Thanks.
Would you go to my car seat safety webpage? I am trying to spread awareness of extended harnessing. if you or a friend/family member have children in elementary school and younger please visit my webpage! read my information, print out my brochures! it would mean a great deal to me if you help me reach others. the safety of children is very very important to me. id love feedback on here as well! post your responses and feedback as an answer! thanks! http://geocities.com/carseatguides/safety.html
Are You Aware Of The New Child Car Seat Recalls?? http://www.hsrc.unc.edu/safety_info/child_passenger_safety/child_restraint_recalls_list.cfm http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/tips/carseats.html If not PLEASE check these sites out. Thanks, have a good day ;-) No Eddie Bauer is a recall to. I have a 5 year and I have grandchildren. So this hits close to home for me and just thought I would warn all others ;-)
When traveling with kids still in a car/ booster seat what state laws should I follow? I am planning a vacation for my family and I have a 3 year old son who is in a booster seat. The booster seat he is in follows the law in the state we live. When traveling do I need to follow my state law (since that's our residency) or do i need to follow the law of each state we go through (4 states)? Each state is different so that means I may need a differnet type seat depending on the state and their law. I have already found the child safety seat laws for each state we will be traveling through, I just don't know if those laws apply to residents of the state or for anyone traveling through the state. What do I do, or where can I find this information at?
Toddler not in a Child Safety Seat? Hi, I live in Fairfax County, Virginia and would like to know what would happen if a Cop stops our car to find that my toddler was in my lap and there were 5 Adults in the car (me, my husband, parents, brother). So there is no room to put the child seat. What is the rule? Is this an offense like speeding? Would I get a ticket? What would be the penalty? Let me know. Thanks.
Does anyone have spare parts to a Designer 22 Safety 1st car seat? We have had one child already, and we took off all the straps and things to clean them, and we misplaced the safety latch hook that hooks the straps into the buckle in between the legs. We are trying to find if someone has a seat they no longer use or knows where I can get one. Our model number and our manufacture date from the side have both been worn off and since we have neither one, we can not order the pieces. Or if you can just e-mail me the model number and manufacture date, we can order the pieces ourselves. Thanks!
We need a small (used) car that will fit 2 car seats... what are your suggestions? I have a young son and soon another one coming, so we're going to need a car that will fit 2 car seats. Obviously safety is an issue for us... but we just can't afford a big SUV or mini van. What cars do you suggest and why... price is an issue, so keep that in mind. *And please, no comments about just sucking it up and buying a "safer" car for my children that is out of our budget... thanks *
Our car seat is not working well in our new suburban that has 2nd row bucket seats. Any suggestions? We have bucket seats in the middle. The car seat forces the driver/passenger to have to ride with their knees into the dash. Anybody else have this problem? What did you do? If your only advice is to tell us to suck it up, please don't answer. We understand that our child's safety comes first. Just wondering if anybody had any solutions. I was thinking about purchasing another seat. Does anybody have one that works well ina suburban?
car seats for Nissan 200zx SE-R? My husband is out of town and just informed me he bought a 95 200zx SE-R, we are expecting our first child in October and as our older car did not have airbags he thought this would be safer (at least that's his excuse). I know it's a coupe and I have been unable to find car seat compatability for it. Does anyone know of any carseats that will fit in the center of the backseat. Or can anyone at least tell me that this is one of the worst cars for child safety??? Warning: Your answers may directly affect my husband's life (or loss of :)
safety and childrens car seats.? Just a question regarding childrens car seats. When my son was born my daughter moved into a 'maxi rider' car seat which has been really fantastic. Such a great buy, now 3 years on my son is ready for a bigger car seat. I was going to put him in the maxi rider and my daughter (who is now 5) in a nother seat... I was thinking of buying one of those seats that sit on the carseat and the car seat belt wraps around. You can buy them from target, kmart as well as proper baby shops. I was thinking this as a cheaper option but saftey comes first. Alot of my friends have these types of seats for their children and say they are fine but I saw on a news show once that they arnt as safe. Just want your opinion as we dont want to spend the big bucks if its just for a fancier car seat but like i said if it is a saftey issue for sure then this i wont compromise. what are your thoughts?
child safety in tenn. please? need #1 answers only why is it difficult to get an officer to check on child car restraint safety??the child being placed in the front seat.also is there a law in tenn.that a 2 year old female should NOT be sleeping in a twin bed with her "father" even just on week ends???
Why was my post on Craigslist flagged and removed? I posted an ad in cars/trucks for my city looking for an imported "safe" car with child safety seat tethers. I just am so angry at Craigslist for their stupidity! They are so rude! Why was my post of looking for a car flagged? I even put a "please do not flag my post" and it was!
New car seat law?My son is 2 and ex has just bought a booster seat for ages 3-12 yrs weight 15kg-36kgs.? My ex has bought a booster seat for me to keep in the house for when friends/relatives want to take me and our son out.I don't drive. The age says3-12 yrs weight 15kg -36kg.Although our son is not yet 2 he is bigger than average and weighs about the 15kg mark already. Is this booster seat suitable for him to use and is it within the new laws for child car safety as of september? My ex says it is and that I'm being a b***h by questioning it but I just want to know my son will be safe and legal. It says its in group three which according to a document I just read on the net is age 6+.Please can someone give me the appropriate advice as I don't want my son to be travelling unsafely.
Can you open a Child Safety locked back door FROM THE INSIDE? I'm trying this for a fan-fiction; it's one of those quick details that'll probably never come up again, but it's been bugging me for a week. This character flashes back to his childhood. He gets kidnapped, and has no time to prepare, so it's not like he brings a lock-pick set or anything. Anywho, he's shoved into the back seat of this car, and the doors are locked with child safety locks (or for more of a challenge, I'll accept input on police cars, whose back doors aren't supposed to open AT ALL from the inside, or so the movies have it....) ....How does he get out? Can he get at the lock from the inside so that he can escape, and more important, how does he do it before the kidnappers realize what he's doing? (No, they're not bumbling idiots, I just want him to be really good at what he does.) Or must I to cheat on that scene, and when (end of flashback) he's asked how he got out , he responds only with "Very carefully"? I may have other quick-shot fiction questions in the future.
Car Seat Safety Question...? The other day my husband wrecked our car... my child wasn't in there. THANK GOD! However, his car seat was. I know that the seat would be no good if he'd been in it, becasue of the stress it would have been put under. What I don't know is if it would still be considered compromised as a result of the accident if there wasn't any wieght in it... Does any one know by chance?
Infant Car Seat Safety Standards? I'm pregnant with my first child, and recently purchased a travel system for my unborn baby. I bought the Graco Infant Safeseat, because I had heard and read alot of good reviews about it online. But then today I saw on the news that the seat didnt pass all safety test for the government standards, along with many other name brand seats. Did anyone else see this? What is your opinion? I want my child to be the safest possible. Has anyone else used this infant seat?

Please correct this essay, title is "On-line Child Health Information System"? The issues on the emotional, physical, and behavioral aspects of the child are very important such as obesity, smoking, car safety seats, infections, depression and teen suicide, vaccine, sports, illness, nutrition advice, injury prevention. It is important that child and parents can get information to help them to handle these issues. This research develops an on-line child health information web, providing proper information of child health for child and parents in order to help the child to get rid of the health problem. Three steps are used for developing child health information system (1) assessment of the needs of the child and parent , (2) development of the web-based learning platform by system analysis, system design and information management in SQL sever database, (3) online questionnaires are used to get the information of the needs of the user. We have established a web-based system providing integrated accurate and reliable multimedia health information in child health.
