What security clearance is needed for the Officer Candidate school application and where to find this info?

I am applying for OCS to be a Naval Officer. I need information on what type of security clearance I need. I believe it is a secrect clearance or higer but I need to see an Offical document mentioning this.

  1. You can go to any state college, and some community colleges and apply for ROTC. Or you can go to a recruiters Office and apply for OCS. you need no Security Clearance just no felonies, or DUIs. They will give yoiu a security cleaance.
  2. You dont need a security clearance to get in, in fact, i dont think you can get one untill you are in and have a reason to need one. Just being an officer doesn't mean you rate a clearance.
  3. In the Army, we require a Secret Clearance in order to be an officer. Those who cannot for legal or financial reason obtain one cannot be officers. Use this link for info, its a great site: http://www.usnavyocs.com/
  4. To apply, you need no clearance, in fact, the way that system works, you cannot get one - yet. As part of your application to OCS, you will however be required to provide information about yourself, your past and your family and any information that would deny you an eventual clearance will also result in your non-selection to attend OCS. Once you have successfully graduated from OSC and/or commisioned, or possibly shortly before that while you are in training, you will be "asked to apply" for a clearance. This application consists of a long form that will essentially ask you your and your immediate family, history. This then is submited to the Security Agency respsonsible for clearances in whatever branch you belong to (you did not say in your question). They take it from there.
  5. You will not be required to obtain a Clearance until they need you to have one. Certain Communities need higher Clearances than others. As long as you have nothing to hide, there should be no problem. It may take a while though.. they are backlogged.
