How long is the security kept for the extended family of a President of the US?
I know the president and the first lady have lifelong security, but what about the children of a president. For instence, Beth Truman (only child of President Truman) just passsed away, and did she have FBI security until her death? Or any child of any of the past Presidents?

- This is usually done on a case-by-case basis. If you are a child of the president and have not had any threats or other weirdness, then they will probably drop protection fairly soon. The Ford children do not have protection.
- President's and their spouses where the President began his service after January 1, 1997 get protection for 10 years from the date the President leaves office. Children of the President also 10 years or until age 16 whichever comes first.
