- Uhm, theoretically yes, but there's no such thing as EMP bro. It's still Science Fiction for the most part. : )
- Transformers don't produce an EMP effect so I think you're safe.
- An EMP (which do exist outside science fiction) is caused by a nuclear bomb, or sophisticated equipment like a low-inductance capacitor bank discharged into a single-loop antenna. The transformers near your house have about as much chance of making pancakes as they do of making an EMP, your alarms are safe.
- You have a nuclear bomb disguised as a transformer near your house? Suggest you move to another county / country
- transformers can't create EMP, EMP occur when a nuclear bomb detonates. your thinking of EMI, electromagnetic interference caused by the electromagnetic field created by electronics, the transformer won't create a big field if it goes, they are also encased in metal which reduces the effect
- Distribution transformers near your house can't cause an electromagnetic pulse similar to one in a nuclear bomb that destroys electronic security systems., even if they get burnt.
