How does camera security work for table games at casinos?

What's the level of internal control like for table games [in casinos]? I know each table has a camera above it. Is there a security personnel for EACH table monitoring the activity? And is there another security personnel watching the other security personnel that's watching the dealer, and so fourth? Just curious.

  1. Depending on how big the casino is will determine the amount of people watching the cameras. Each bulb above your head in a casino has 4 other cameras in it or 1 mobile camera. The people who operate them can scan a person or play at anytime. Usually the floor person or pit boss will notify the sercurity above aslo known as the eye in the sky as to a certain person or game to watch. My advice dont try to cheat you will get caught. I worked as a pit boss for 15 years you wont get away with it. Just about every spot except for the bathrooms are under watch.
  2. The age of wire-less and micro electronics have made things much easier for csino personal. Micro.. r otherwise called 'pin-hole' cameras with amazingly high resolution can be hidden so well - you would not even see them from 1m distance. In most places though... watch the half-globe dome. If the glass/plastic is darkened or mirrowed you can be sure there is a telemetry dome camera in operation. Itcan zoom so close ...it can see the hairs on your finger. Usually ne security surveillance operator can easily handle four dome cameras/ tables and zoom in on anything suspicious. Would they employ more personal.. they woul make more loss than through the cheating it self.
  3. They are usually called Surveillance cameras, the casinos I am familiar with have a section in their compacts (regulations outlined and detailed) that say what type of camera is required for the table games areas. Usually its one camera stationary over a table and a PTZ (pan tilt and zoom). As far as people watching it, that depends on the size of the casino and the action on the table and the limits. Most often they are not watched at ALL times by Surveillance personnel, but they do watch them and they are most likely always recording-you don't have to be watching it to have it recording, just in case there is a problem or something and they need to review some play. Now, as far as the actual Surveillance staff, they have people in the room watching all areas of the casino, again depending on the size of the casino. There is personnel watching the cameras and a Supervisor or a lead person, with a Manager or Director above them. Some places have a camera recording the room, some don't. As far as internal controls, well as I mentioned earlier they have their compacts with the state they're in, then they have the Internal controls standards set by a regulatory body (aka goverment), and they also have the individual casino policy and procedures, which all have detailed rules and regulations for game play. They have a strict set of rules that they follow, and are audited regularly (official looking men or women in suits with briefcases and clipboards come and check out the casino). If your still curious, you should google "casino gaming commisions" or "casino regulatory bodies/agencies". That should direct you to sites like the Nevada Gaming Commision, the American Gaming Association, the National Indian Gaming Commision and so on. As far as outside the United States, I haven't a clue...
  4. There will be at lest two cameras on each AR and one on the cards, two on the punto tables and craps. These will be fixed cameras. There will be panning cameras around the floor to pick up different angles on the tables and to watch the non gaming areas. You might get 6 or 7 surveillance operatives watching up to 60 tables. All the units will be recording and the operatives will be tasked to the busier games.
  5. There are college courses that teach surveillance.
