What type of security clearance (if any) are marine infantry officers required to have?
After TBS, when an officer is selected for marine infantry, is he required to have a security clearance. If so, is it a secret or top secret clearance? What about logistics officers?

- All officers have at least Secret, probably higher for Logistics.
- Infantry officers have to have a secret clearance at the minimum.. Also dont forget that just because an officer and anyone else for that matter has a secret clearance it does not mean they can view all information under the secret category.. I had a secret clearance and I held the cryptographic equipment when out in the field and no one except me was allowed to hold or use it..No officer except my platoon commander could force me to hand over my gear..not even a four star general
- Only personell who deal with highly classified info are given clearence. if your just gonna be an officer there is no clearance involved. logistics officers have some low level security clearence, but just think about this, if you open your mouth and tell someone who is not supposed to know where some troops are you will be thrown in the brig and courtmartialed!
- Secret. Marines seldom ever need higher.
- Security Clearances are issued on a "need to know" basis. It is not a question of a necessary requirement but what an officer may have access to. Approvals for recommendation as to the level of clearance must satisfy the duties of the officer to properly complete all missions assigned. I can tell you this, as a Naval Administrative Officer with "Top Secret" I never saw a document or report considered "grave" danger to our country if seized. This was not only my opinion but that of my C.O.'s as well. I am certain, in a "theater" of war, documents are highly secured designated "TS" and "S".
