My 2002 Cameros' security system will not disengage to allow it to start. How can I disable and start my car?
Car was running great when I stopped for coffee. Then, lights,icons as usual, turn the key, no juice to the starter. Starter's ok, so's the ignition. It has to be the security system. How can I save $250.00 to $600.00 cost to repair and just get rid of it altogether?

- The first thing to do is try a second key if you have one. Frequently the problem is a defective key which contains the security code to start the car.
- if that is a pass key system with the little kernnel in the key with a shiny metal strip on each side of the kernnel,then this'll do it.http://vats.likeabigdog.com/
- This I know ;when You turn Ign. Key to start,Is there a steady Security Light on in the Instrument panel?If so turn Key to on,and watch light it will flash and go out in ten Minutes,turn Key to off then turn key to start; This Fix cost You nothing;If You take to Dealer cost would be more like 200 Dollars; G.M. has a Problem with Olds Aleros-Malibus-Cameros-99 thru 2003 They are making money with this one-all should have been recalled; There is a way to bypass this Feature,but You will have other Issues if You do them;
- i have to lock and unlock the passenger door to undo or reset the alarm. usually only when the alarm goes off.
