How can I get my brother to take his personal safety more seriously?

Whenever my brother goes out with friends he always walks home alone in the dark. We live (we share a house cos he's 18 and I'm 20) in a bad area and so he could get robbed, raped or even killed. Whenever I talk to him about it just laughs at me and just says sis don't worry. How do I get him to take his safety more seriously cos I'm worried one day I may get the dreaded call from the police

1. Bad things happen. You worrying about bad things happening does not mean they will happen. If that is your nature then most likely you will worry about something else if you did not have your brother to worry about. We all have to walk home alone unless you stay with the person walking you home! Crime is not as bad as the media make out. That is why they use sensational type reporting. All they want is for people to buy their papers. You should live your life and let him live his.
2. make one girl friend for him. he will listen her more than you.(its natural)
