What suggestions do you have for personal safety in times of possible danger?

I like to take night-time walks (I'm male, not female, which excludes rape scenarios for the most part) and some places (I have noticed) have a little "Activity" which maybe dangerous for me. I am sixteen years old. This question is aimed at anyone willing to answer, yet ideas from criminals would be appreciated, so I know the activities of common offenders of the law. 4. Get a rottweiler.Strong,loyal,gentle giants.When they are raised in a good home they are like big teddy bears but when it comes to protecting the ones they love,watch out.I had one until 6 years ago (he had gotten old & was having health issues) but he was awesome when it came to protecting us.
5. us criminals aren't really into raping 16 year old boys. but if a group of guys surrounds and wants to either rob or just mess with you the best tin to di is attack the first guy you see. do not say anything just attack. they might scare them off. or distract them long enough for you to run. carrying a knife is also a good idea if its that dangerous.
6. 1: have a cell phone with you, and change for the pay phone in case you lose signal, or the cell. 2: make sure someone knows where you are, how long you plan on being gone, and when you will get back. it could be as simple as calling a friend and telling them (not their answering machine) that your going for a walk, for x amount of time, and should be home to check back with them at such and such time 3: take a self defense class! its fun, empowering, and gives you a little insight on what to do; at least enough to break out of someone else's control so you can run to a more populated area. 4: stick to areas with a mix of population and that are lighted well. the more solitary, the more the chances of getting into trouble go up. hope this helps ^_^
