  1. show them how to cross the road properly show them where its safe look left etc. dont talk to strangers when parents are not there.
  2. When kids are young they don't like to sit and listen to their parents talk about what to do, and what not to do. So make a game out of it! They will pay more attention and know what to to when that type of situation happens. EX.: MOM: (pretends to be a stranger) would you like me to take you to the park. CHILD: Runs back to his parents away from the stranger. Play the game with your child often so they know what to do I have a 2 year old cousin and I play the game with him all the time! He loves it!
  3. Teach children to respect their own bodies by giving them respect, provide privacy for toilet needs, changing etc. Teach about bullying this allows a child to realise that saying 'no' is an option and this can lead them to saying 'no' if anyone does something to them that makes them feel uncomfortable. Teach body awareness, when doing physical activities encourage them to be adventurous but safe. In the setting teach them to be aware of their surroundings and point out dangers--like a chair in the way--explain about putting equipment away so accidents can't happen. If there is an accident explain why it happened and what can be done to stop it happening again.
