Security Advantage

Why are people allowing more and more security cameras in City centers and Public spaces?

It seems to me that America is becoming an open air prision. With all these security cameras popping up in big cities now, I feel like our collective privacy is a thing of the past. Whats next, two way TV sets to monitor us as we watch television. For those who support them, don't you see the inherent danger. The slow move toward a totally monitored society. I know they have proven to be beneficial at times, but at what cost and I don't mean monetary, and where does it end. This is just the begining.

Public Comments

  1. I agree with you that this is EXACTLY what the US is becoming. But there is nothing that we the people can do to stop this.
  2. England has these cameras up in most places already and they've been used to great advantage in fighting crime as well as preventing violent behavior. I believe most Americans would love to have a little more security. Additionally, privacy is not a right guaranteed under God or the Constitution.
  3. Allowing? I suppose that is correct. If we had any sense we'd tear them down.
  4. Because security cameras a less expensive than security guards. Another important reason for those cameras is that they provide a record of events that happen at a specific place at a specific time. For many public places the instillation of security cameras pays for themselves when they are used to prove a 'slip and fall' lawsuit as false.
  5. Yeah real 1984ish. Guess they can say they're doing it to see who kills or assaults us, and some people will swallow that.
  6. Did you say 2-way and cameras? Sounds fun! he-he-he!
